Anyone using a decent long sleeve hoodie for warm weather riding and sun protection? Is it worth spending 2x the price and getting a brand-name? Or are the cheap polyester ones on Amazon etc. basically as good in your experience?
Anything else to look for e.g. buy 1 size bigger to get longer sleeves? Look for something with thumb-holes?
Any recommendations?Thanks!
I picked this up from BCF and use it from time to time in warm weather. Works well and dries quick. Has a hood, just can't see it in the picture. Think they are pretty cheap.

I bought a cheap one from Amazon (I think the name is Willit) and really didn't like the fit. Its really baggy and when it gets wet, it drapes all over the place. I stopped using it after a couple uses. I have more premium ones from Patagonia and Quicksilver and the fit is so much better that the cost is worth it for me.
Fit is important and the cheap one that i found didn't fit right.
I've got two from Patagonia (Tropic Hoody)
One Kathmandu and one mountain design.
all hooded and long sleeve.
Worth it.
I broke down and went with the Patagonia hooded rashguard and it has worked well. I really dislike surfing with a hood but this rashguard hood doesn't bother me at all. It keeps the sun off my arms, body, ears, neck and a bit of my face since it has a small visor. It has small thumb loops and a pocket but I don't use them.www.patagonia.com/product/mens-r0-hoody-rashguard-with-hood/81651.html?dwvar_81651_color=WHI&cgid=sport-surfing-mens-shirts
I typically wear a size medium for Patagonia products but went with a small as to avoid any bagging when wet.
The Florence marine rashguard looks good too.
I found the hoodies hard to fit under the helmet so have been using this with good success . (plus it looks just so cool you won't know what to do with yourself)

otherwise I have the Patagonia options and like their materials. The kids have other coolibar Sun protection that seem to work well
Thanks everyone - great suggestions. Got a Dakine Snug Fit hooded long sleeve with a brim visor coming later this week. (name brand and on sale... would have liked the patagucci but a little too much $s right now)
