still learning, and something I'm not sure of and can't seem to find it covered on Youtube, is what height to fly at above the water?
I'm either flying as high as possible or high enough to be clear of chop. What you do you guys fly at, as a rule of thumb.

Sounds like you have the right idea. With experience your ride height becomes intuitive.

The higher you are on the foil, the less drag you will have, the faster you will go, and the longer you will glide. The risk is that you have less tolerance to breaching the foil.

You want to read your conditions and tailor your height on foil based on the conditions. If its choppy and you need more tolerance, you might ride a bid more conservative, but if its glassy and smooth you can ride high on the foil.

Also, what you are doing makes a difference. You might want to ride lower going into a banked turn, so you don't breach a tip. For example, I sometimes go into an aggressive tack lower on my mast so I don't breach my outside wingtip, but once I'm coming around the turn I come up high on the mast to preserve my glide as speed slows.
