Hi All,
I have been kitesurfing for the last 5 or 6 years, living at the coast in Raglan NZ. I am about to move to Mansfield Victoria, and am feeling very nervous about being away from the coast!
Wing foilers have gradually overtaken kiters at my local, so the thought has occurred to me that I could take the opportunity to take up wing foiling on Lake Eildon. Probably launching from Goughs Bay.
Has anyone wing foiled on Lake Eildon? Is reliable enough to justify investing in some gear?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks bomberdave - yes, its a good point.
I couldn't find any good information on wind speed, so I decided to run a 1km downscaled atmostpheric model over the lake for a year just to get an idea and calculate a few stats. Just in case anyone is interested in the future, the first plot is mean wind speed, the second 90th percentile wind speed and the third is a wind rose at Goughs bay. This is very quick and dirty, and as I say only based on 1 year of data, but it looks like there is a 10-13knot SSE wind with some regularity. Overall I was quite encouraged!

I'm up there now and it's definitely do'able..
Right now it's at about 90% full.. Perfect.
A S/E wind works well and up the north western end (near Mansfield) is a good spot.. It's called Ford Inlet.

And the water is warm- 25 degrees according to the sounder on my boat when we were tow-foiling a few days ago. So nice.
