I know ocean side is the goto for NE and S/SE, what about westerlies? It seems the Tuggerah lake and Brisbane Waters have too many weeds, where do people escape to on W?

Very keen to hear peoples feedback on this question. I just bought a holiday house in Toowoon Bay purely because it looked like a good spot for winging. I have not done it but I thought you might be able to wing in Tuggerah Lake. My idea was to hire a small boat go out to the middle and start winging with wind direction not an issue. Has anyone tried this? Would it be possible?

Thanks

A few regulars windwing, kite foil and windfoil in Lake Munmorah .
There are good launch locations for all wind directions close to shore and suitable depth.

We have a regular crew of wingers who ride ocean at Terrigal Haven in NE, S/Se Toowoon and Box head. South and anything west is fine in Brisbane water for flat water launching at boat ramp below Aldi weed is not usually an issue also a great place to learn to wing just need booties to protect yourself from rays

In a westerly you can simply walk out on one of the jetty's at Long Jetty and launch.... probably work in a southerly as well. Get some terrific waves in the middle.

Toowoon bay if you ride here especially in the holidays please note
DO NOT ride south of a line from the boat ramp
draw a line from the boat ramp to the yellow floating marker and the rocks on the southern point.
This is a no go zone!!!!
it's too close to the flagged swimming area .
It is only with years of working with the life guards/savers that wind sports have not been banned.
respect the local agreement if you are up visiting please.

Good intel, is there anything to know about Norah head? It looks awesome for foiling but it looks like they might have some rules there own too

Stay away from flags and try avoid the fisherman.

Quite a few kiters do downwinders from Birdie Beach to Lakes Beach.

I stopped by this sunday to have a look at Toowoon and it looked beautiful. Only issue is that it is a very small space and lots of people doing all sorts of things in the water. I am guessing the trick is to go when it is nuking.

I can't seem to find much reviews of forresters beach. The reef must provide some nice controlled incoming swell there. I have been going out to Hargraves and it works really nicely in NE but crazy weird water in SE.

Planning to take a trip down to Terrigal really soon too, looks really nice from the surfcam
