I've been winging for 3+ years - waves not freestyle, strapless and 78kg.
I recently changed from my 75L Naish daily driver to 60L Rocket wing board. Releases super early but feels big with the square nose and when it's very light it sits a bit far under the water to pump it out so this isn't a keeper.
My old 75L Naish feels really nice on foil in waves but perhaps not the earliest releasing board. I can get going in lighter wind than the 60L Fone as it sits on the waterline.

* I have a 4'8 44L Rocket for when the wind is nice. Square nose doesn't bother me as it as its narrow and short, I also use it prone foiling.

Id like to know what experienced riders use + or - their body weight for a daily driver and importantly for light wind.

I've recently bought the Omen Flux 72 to replace my Rocket Wing 60L as my daily driver.
At 90kg on average the Rocket covers about 80% of my use case but with the new board I get 100% coverage and lighten the wear on my wings. This board accelerates and releases quickly.

6-8 lts below body weight seems to work well in all conditions and not too short. Not too much in a blow but with enough volume to slog back to shore if the wind turns off.

@IanInca you have to define what light wind means for you.
Light wind by Maui standards is not the same as light wind on a lake.

Are we talking 8-10 knts? Or 12-14 knts?

I only have one board, 4'7 - 43L for my 78 kg. So that's 55% of my body weight and I'm using the same size wings as wingers on full floaters, but very often the smallest foil of the group. HA850 is my daily driver unless the swell is way overhead and fast then it's HA650.

I found the sweet spot for a sinker which allows me to ride the same size wing as on a floater to be around 50-55% of body weight.

My lower limit is probably 12-14 knts with my 4.2 m. Maybe slightly lower with crazy pumping, but not worth the effort.

At 65kgs I typically use my 86L 6'3 x 18.75" DW board for winds where the 18mph mark is not reached. Once there are gusts above 18mph I'll grab my 60L or go full sinker at 34L or 27L prone boards if enough depth at my spot and not too exposed.
