I'm interested in one of these corrugated webbing board leashes, but all the shops have had them listed as out of stock for months. Any other brands out there made with similar materials? I'd like to be able to clip onto my vest
I've heard that the ones made out of webbing can cause trouble. Because in a hard crash you reach the quickly the point were there is zero flex, and something have to give. That could be the attachment point on the board.
The traditional coil leashes have a more gradual/soft stop in hard crashes. Personally I am happy with the Kaohi leash.
The WIP webbing leash has a section where they have doubled up the webbing. This section, about 30cm doesn't stretch much but provides a cushion when the leash reaches its maximum extension to protect the leash plug.
Have used original version of this leash for close to 2 years and hundreds of sessions - no issues with recoil or durability.
The lower double section does frequently get stuck in the split toe of my booties and need to come off foil to get it out.
Super handy being able to clip it onto harness.Newer version with quick release and they have moved the double section to the top.

Thanks for this link. Ordered a board and wing leash
Great leash by the looks of it, but I can not understand why anyone would still make anything in foil/surf sports with a metal carabiner. Soft loops/dog bones are lighter, don't damage anything and are potentially stronger (dyneema).
I've already made myself a couple of Dyneema soft shackles, so can easily swap the carabiner out if I'm not happy with it.
Got my leash and was initially very happy with it as it was light, tangle free and I could attach it to my vest. However I did notice a firm pull when the leash reached the end of its extension. This is not something I ever experienced with my coil leash. Then it ripped the plug out of my Sunova Carver, a risk pointed out earlier. Back to coils for me - unfortunately I do not recommend the WIP leash
Ugh, that sucks! I tried a non-fcs leash for 1 session this year and was horrified when I felt the board bang off the end of their coils. I was sure I had damaged my Carver but fortunately mine was fine.
I use this sleeve to keep the coils tangle free:
