To the guy on the dark blue North wing and the anger management problem.

Don't really appreciate your anger, physical attack and verbal attack today at Port beach Perth, really believe there is enough anger and violence in this world don't need people like you go off the tree at others having a good time on the water.

Just to clarify what happened to me today at Port Beach Perth.
Went out for a kite as I have for the past 18 years or so and was yelled at by a winger, **** off this isn't a kite beach you cant kite here..
Turned around and asked what the issue was and got in response **** off you **** that thing is too dangerous .
Next thing I know the Guy rams me with his foil and board and punched me in the face with his wing.
Got a bit upset and told him to come out to the beach to sort the issue unfortunately he didn't have the balls to face me.
Did ask around if anyone in the car park new him and surprisingly no one did so please mister angry Man give me a call 0434016147 so we can discuss your problem like grownups...

Bay the way didn't appear anyone else in the car park minded me kiting .
Hope Perth beaches can stay the way they have for the past 18 years I have kited here don't need dedicated wing, windsurf and kite beaches like they have elsewhere.

Wish you all good winds and happy times on the water.
Michael

I think we all enjoy your kiting Michael, anyone who behaves it that manner should in their words f off!! They are not welcome at Port beach or any other beach for that matter, maybe time they took up a sport more suited to their anger issues or ignorance!

Whoever this top class dickhead is I hope someone names and shames as you and any kiters are always welcome at any beach............

Some people are simple ***holes. At our beach, a guy who thought is was a great idea to bring a concert-level battery powered speaker so he could hear music while on the water got so upset when I told him to turn it off that he assaulted me twice. The second time, he ended up spending the night in jail after I called the police. Turns out the state I live in makes assaulting anyone 60+ a felony. Some of the ~ 10 cops involved in his arrest did not seem too happy to be there, but since it was a felony offense, the police had no choice - they had to arrest him. He ended up with court proceedings that dragged out over a year, finally leading to pre-trial probation with a "stay away" order, after spending a few thousand dollars on attorney fees. He's also on record now, and any future aggression will get him permanently banned from the ton beaches (which the police will enforce).

But laws differ. In a southern US state that I go to in the winter (one of those where you can buy and carry handguns without a permit), the maximum sentence for assault is a fine of $500, and that includes assaults bad enough to send you to the hospital for a couple of days.

I highly recommend the US best selling book by Harriet Goldbor Lerner
The Dance of Anger
'a woman's guide to changing the patterns of intimate relationships"
its more about anger in the couple situation from a female perspective but should be enough for the general 'Judge Dredd' type

Well from my experience wingfoiling is the most mellow least aggressive sport around. Over the last couple of years of winging the busy Perth metro beaches I haven't noticed any agro at all really.
I guess there's always one dickhead though...

Sorry to read that Michael - you're one of the original foil crew at Port/Dutchies (+5 years), super chilled and highly skilled, great fun to foil with

Amazed how epic the stoke has been in our foiling community (until now )

Hi Michael, that was not a good experience and I hope that it does not happen again. You are pretty aware of what is going on in the water and considerate from my experience. Certainly very skilled on your foil.
I like winging because it is not aggressive and hopefully that will not change.
Hope it all works out for everyone to get along and enjoy our good conditions.

Most people in water sports, will know Michael, will have seen him out there, one of the more skilled kiters to watch and enjoy, some people will have been helped by him, if he sees someone in trouble he always goes over to see if he can help, he's the guy at Melville who brings the lost boards back to the beach! He has a friendly guy and will talk to anyone!
We can only assume the opposite of Mr Blue North! Unfortunately I've met a few like him, they are out there.
No one wants people like that around, let's hope he either changes his behaviour, fronts up and apologies or, as he puts it, F***s off!

Maybe he has a very small Willy!!
Yes I think that must be it!!!!!
So
Mr Blue Small Willy North please F off!!!

From when I started foiling I felt a common bond with any Foiler;
Prone, Down wind, Wing, Wind, Tow or Kite, All foilers!!
Reckon Michael was at Port to dodge weed "Our" common enemy. Plenty of room for everyone I reckon.
Sorry to hear of your experience Michael, hope you got an apology
Look forward to Foiling together soon

Unfortunatly yesterday i had this clown cut between myself and another winger, he abused the other winger, luckely i think the other winger didnt hear. The clown was in the wrong and i just think this is not on.
I did however give the clown a bit of free advise and he did seem to disappear.
As all are saying keep the anger to your self and go and find a spot on your own. it is a large coast line.
If you want to discuss further, all down at the port beach know he and i am sure you will point out to me where i am wrong.

I really need to talk to him because not only has he abused me and ausulted also has he damaged my foil when he rode into me.
Please if anyone knows him let me know.
Cheers

I don't doubt this guy sounds like a very rude person with multiple events reported.

But in regards to ramming you... surely not. That is flipping crazy! Would anyone be risking their own foils and board to payback someone? Maybe some sort of road rage-like triggered behaviour?

Can you share any details about how you guys managed to collide/ encounter twice? Being the devils advocate and most likely wrong- It's such a big space out there I don't think anyone should be speeding up behind anyone unless they are friends that want to share the experience. If you did this to tell the guy some unfriendly words that is fairly uncool. It is very uncomfortable as a winger when you can hear a fast foil or a windsurfer bearing down on you from behind and you are locked in your trajectory afraid to turn. I assume the people that do this are skilled to be going that fast but do they understand the pressure they are putting on the other riders by buzzing by them anonymously?

Anyway nothing justifies horrible abusive behavior and reminds me that I'm really thankful for all the forgiveness and leniency I've been given at lucky bay and Port when I've made maneuvers in the wrong (ie made assumptions or didn't look properly).. usually such great people out there.

Well it sounds crazy but that's exactly what happened.
And no I don't need to make things up I know exactly what happened out there and also was I never anywhere close to him except the time I wanted to talk and he rammed and punched me.
