Hi guys,
I made some good progress recently with my 85L 4'10" and decided to give the sinker start a try on my smaller 40L 4'6" prone foil board (no straps) during the strong windy days we had over the week end. So far, I am able to do the sink start on my strong side standing on the board under water with a success rate of about 50%. I anticipate doing this on my weak side to be very challenging. In some surf spots, not being able to do this will mean not being able to go out (except if I can master the sinker start toe side...).
Also, I was wondering if you guys had any tips to share. I have heard about many variations of the sinker start, including kneeling sinker start. I gave it a try but found keeping the board balanced quite challenging (at least for now), maybe because the board is too buoyant (40L for 80kg rider)?. I tried to keep the board perpendicular to the wind as I am reaching to the wing handles, but maybe I should point it down wind?
Anyway I would be happy to get some tips from you guys.
