Hi,
Looking for some advice on how to go about a repair on a Takuma carbon mast that has had the rear wings threaded inserts pulled out. Please find the attached photos of the damaged fuselage. Really look forward to hearing to suggestions and advice on how to proceed.
Regards Anthony.
Ps I am located on the Gold Coast.

I haven't seen a Takuma in the flesh so I'm kind of puzzled by the slanted thread running between the holes there....
Anyway, I would fill the whole thing flush with fast epoxy and chop strand carbon. Sand and put a coat of resin over the busted up skin on the sides.
Then get the appropriate helicoil insert set, tap, drill bit etc and reset the holes with your stab as a template. sand the whole thing, and done.
Hope I am not saying the obvious, "Takuma " and "The Surfboard warehouse" have been amazing in their customer service to me a couple of time in the past . Have you asked about warenty ? Could worth a polite conversation. ??
Hey mate just wondering if you resolved this issue? I've done pretty much the same thing. Had a few tries at resetting the insert but it keeps cracking
Would be worth a read of the thread on the Windsurf/foiling forum about pulled inserts in an AFS fuselage. Lots of information there on replacing inserts

While your at fixing it, why not add some extra holes to shorten the fuse length - can anyone tell me if the fuselage is solid carbon?

I fixed one the other day for a mate where the tail had just snapped off and it was super patchy on the inside with lots of air pockets so would say its not fully solid. I ended up just carboning on one of our new tails to his fuselage and made it shorter since the about 5cm had snapped off and he seems to like it.

Don't use "fast epoxy", as the stuff generally doesn't get hard enough. I have done repairzblike this a couple of times. chopped carbon and epoxy slurry followed with a heli-coil inserts works ok. Often those threads end up pulling out again though-make sure you use "lots of lube" aka tefgel.
The other method is to sand the saddle down a bit, wrap carbon cloth around sanded saddle area. Make sure to wrap the cloth with electrical tape(sticky side out) to keep the fibers tight. let cure, reshape and helicoil it. This will last longer but involves a bit(lot) more fanagling.
