I have the 925 and have only had it out 1 time because I have only had the opportunity to ride in light winds lately. I rode it with the 195 tail. We are getting some stronger winds coming up over the next few days and i want to play with it some more. I have read over the months of people riding with the MA tails and thought i would give some of them a try. Just trying to get a head start with others experiences.
So what MA tail combination did you like with it? Shims?
It depends the feel you are after. I was riding it with a chopped 195 and was ok. But stiff. I recently went back to the V tail and feels great, super loose and fast. Demoed the 140, felt great, somewhat in the middle. Haven't tried any others.
I like the V tail but only at slower wave riding or winging speeds. The feel is a little inconsistent, especially at fast riding speeds (I'd feel like the tail would suddenly drop out as if I hit a pothole) and I don't love the flex at 90 + kgs. I've not ridden the V since getting the Performance masts but I much prefer the attributes of the newer tails. Nice thing is, we can all get the feel we want with shims/tails. Forgot to mention that the 235 improves the low end and pump of the 925 nicely while still turning pretty well. The 180 Speed is my favorite for all round winging, 205 for cranking turns in steep swell, 235 for making a foil more user friendly, and the Dart for ultra maneuverability and good speed. I ride a 50 fuse, so the Dart works better for me with less shim or none.

That's interesting, I find the V tail faster than the chopped 195. Not sure about actual speed, feels faster and way more nimble.
180 all round (with at min red shim)
140 when nuking and you are feeling like pushing your limits a tad.
205 if swell really off it's nuts or water conditions really all over the place and ya want stability over speed and glide.
195 for pure DW pump and glide.

Glide 220 has massively improved the pump on 925. So much so that I may consider swapping back to it in the surf.
surely too big for a 925. unless using a 50 fuse maybe. severely over tailed for that wing.
Only use the 50 fuse these days
Not hijack the thread, but I just tried the HA525 with the 140 for the first time, after having the 525 on the shelf for months after using with older stabs (and not being impressed). The 525 and 140 with red shim went insane! Super fun winging in 20-30knts with great DW swell. I hit 20knts pretty easy, yet could crank turns and glide on swells pretty well. Stall speed wasn't too bad either for my 65kgs. I also ran the MA625 with same rig and I can't decide which was better for the conditions. Both lots of fun.
