Intermediate rider currently using strikes v1 looking to get either a new unit v3 or strike v3 .Mainly riding wind swell (no real waves yet) in 20-30 mph. Conditions can be gusty.

Any info would be appreciated. Low end pumping, handling gusts , top end etc.

Thumbs Up

My wife and I share a strike v3 and unit 2023 in 4,5sqm size so I can easily compare the two. I had a strike v2 prior to that but the unit is my first duotone wing.

First of all both are great wings so you can't really go wrong. And both wings will definitely be an upgrade coming from the strike v1.
- Low end: both need some time to adjust (coming from a strike v1) as tighter canopy makes pumping a bit different. That being sais the unit feels like it has more power. Not sure if it's the handles, the actual size or thickness but the pumping seems easier on the unit. The strike v3 is doing fine but bit more technical to pump.
- Comfort: strike v3 definity stiffer and not as comfy as previous models but still more comfortable to ride than the unit in my opinion. Both handles gusts fine but the stirke offers a more steady ride overall.
- Freefly: strike v3 has much more stability. If you hold both wings by the leash in strong winds you'll clearly see the difference.
-Top end feels similar to me
- Handles: depends on your personnal preference. It feels to me that the duotone hard handles are better for pumping and for learning and/or perfecting wing manoeuvres. But then I learned on soft handles and love the V3 soft-hardsih handles.

If I have to pick I usually go for the strike. But that's a personnal preference. I mostly do wave riding and downwind. I am also used to softer comfy handles.
