Why would you choose M7 as a bolt size??

I have a bunch of straps around, thought i'd nip to bunnings to get some bolts as they were clearly smaller than anything I had . figured they were M6. Just a freaking weird size!!

This is a sport where most is bespoke and very little can be bought from Bunnings. Just one of those tricky things

Footstraps screws have always been hard to source the correct ones. They aren't a machine pitch but rather thread forming. I ended up ordering a couple hundred because I wanted them in Torx (this was before Starboard started selling them).

after ripping my foot straps out from poorly timed jumps, I put a helicoil in - works great now

Thanks, lesson learnt i assumed they were a threaded insert, my local stores helped me out (thanks action sports and surf sail aus)- this size is apparently quite standard for windsurfing.

@waterlife do the helicoils just drop in and tension against the inside of the hole?

@king crash the fanatic are smaller (M6 i assume)

I have never seen M7. Most Cobra built boards are M6 Thread forming screws with some being smaller M5 - usually when using double screws.

It's a cobra board - I have a starboard board with fanatic screws for straps. Unless you have a new board built in another factory, using different construction methods. I'd say yours is the same
