Heard Sri Lanka can work during our winter (June-Sept).
Anyone been there? Curious how reliable the wind is and what the main spots are.
I have just been there in February: Stayed only 3 days in Kalpitiya: Every day wind for 5,0 wing starting around noon. I stayed at Club Mango: Great accomodation, but mainly kitesurfers. I was lucky to rent the only wingfoil-equipment they had (all F-One: Rocket wing+seven seas+strike+carbon mast, great quality, nearly new!)

Not all the accomodation there are what they look like on their homepage. So choose carefully! But Club Mango was wonderful! Strong recommendation!
I was winging on the lagoon: Flat water, cross-on, steady wind, perfect for maneuver-training. Warm water: I used boardshort only. I think, there are a lot of other spots nearby, but did not check it, because I was on a round trip with my family and had only 3 days left...
You can check the wind online here: www.windguru.cz/station/3313
There you can see also previous months/years! They told me that the wind is also ok in european summer/your winter. And the statistic datas are really looking good.
I have not heard of other spots then kalpitiya. But during our first day north of colombo there was always light wind (10-14kn) from the right side = North
