I need advice on how to mount a board without straining/aggravating my sore ribs.
The stink bug method still requires me to mount the board.
My problem is that very first stage. I can launch myself up then it's the strain on my ribs as load is taken on my elbows. I keep my ribs off the board so that's not the issue.
Once up and foiling and even pumping are not the problem.

You talking about a specific spot on your ribcage, like the bottom rib maybe?

if you had a PFD or an impact vest that added thickness to another part of your chest it would move the pressure there. Maybe even cut away the foam on the area in question.

Lower volume board - a super sinker seems like the best way to avoid that kind of strain.

Otherwise, sliding on from the back to straddle the board might help, and if your board is narrow enough, from straddling, pull your feet up behind you onto the top of the board and use them to help leverage up onto your knees.

Good luck!

Not sure I follow. You aren't laying down on the board prone position, so theres no pressure on your ribs. You are having rib pain when you are crouched down with weight on your knees/elbows? You sure its rib pain and not just a weak core?

This is what I had in mind for next session.
I have an Armstrong 17.25in wide and a Duotone Skybrid 85l x 22in wide.
