Anyone else get sore hips from sitting on the board and flipping the wing? Just discovered a technique that doesn't spread the hips so far.
Um why are you sitting on the board and flipping a wing. ?
When I wipe out, and the wing flips, I sit on the board, flip it and then get going again.

If you go straight to kneeling, you'll cut out a step.
Ok, find it a stable way to flip wing sitting, but will give it a go kneeling

Maybe you are a bit more ambidextrous than me, but If you can flip it either way (I favour holding the depower with my right hand) it will turn you beam on to the wind in the direction of your choice and save you shuffling hands around and twisting those hips to setup your popup/takeoff.
Ha. I'm on all fours like getting up on a SUP without a wing. I hold the wing leash close to the front handle so the wing can still lay flat on the water. Then I stand up & grab the front handle and off I go.
I just do it when in the water before getting back on the board.
Never occured to me to get on the board first.
Sounds harder and uneccessary ??
Exactly above.I tried doing it on the board today what a pain in the ass. Just get in the water and do it.

I do it on the board, kneeling. Much easier for me especially in light wind.
Ah, I can see it would be fine (even easier) on the board in light wind, flatter seas?
My normal conditions are 2-3ft wind chop. I can't really kneel easily without the wing to balance with, so in the water it is.
