Seem to move down in increments of a foot. First board was 7 6 then a 6 6 now I have a 5 6. The bumblebee
5x6 29 110l. Me @ 105kg
Pros - easier to manage on land, bomber pvc construction, handle on bottom of board, easy lift off, touchdowns do not effect the ride as much, feels like I can turn better, improved glide and pump, you look cooler on a smaller board
Cons - knee starts rather than uphaul, harder to dog in with no wind. Interesting - easier than I thought it would be to get up and going, seems to stay on the foil better in lulls. Overall I am very happy apart from sore knees. It really came together yesterday when the wind picked up and I was lit on the 4m felt awesome.

Hi Hilly,
Are those fin boxes placed further forward on your custom model?
Im surprised your Armstrong mast is in the middle of the track?
ive been testing the 5'3 with the same foil set up you have (1250 wing, 850 mast) and had the mast as far forward as it would go, and straps all the way back.
Felt pretty balanced like that for me.
Great looking little rocket ship too!!

Not sure we can measure when you are back down. I have the mast at the back of the box and foot straps right at the front.
Nice mate! Still killing it on your HS1250?
Just use the 1250 now but have ordered a 1050.
Looking good out there today Hilly! Plenty of waves to share. anyone know who lost their wing? Police boat picked up a stray wing shortly after you guys headed downwind.

Saw the boat with lights, not our group. It got super light at the end of the run. Lucky to make it ![]()

Was that you at Falcon? Looked light coming out ![]()

Couple of you as well Pete :)
Cool pics. I just did a 1/2 cut run with a ski mate and had a play on the swells wrapping around Halls Head at the end. Falcon looked like it was pumping as I went past.
My mate just picked up this new SMIK as his high wind ding board.
Dims say 4'8"x25x75L. Feels a little smaller than that to me. Rail shape very different to the larger models heap more bevel. I rode it for 30 minutes yesterday feels real good. Weight is 5.5kg.

Yeh those smik boards "look right".
ps my son and I were doing that falcon to halls head run. Got to my beach downwind in falcon still and bloody paddled in it was that light. I then a pent the next hour or so making sure those crazy buggers got to halls head. Madness.
Scotty does heaps of his own R&D so You would assume he has seen benefit in the larger bevel.

no bevels works best for me as my 95l Fanatic.
I've had Smik and Naish with bevels at 120l x 30in and 125 l x 31in, 110l x 28in and the 95l x 26in wide Fanatic is better in every respect with absolutely no bevels and dead flat bottom.
Just reminds me of many successful surf board designs etc ie simple works, well for me anyway.

I tried the fanatic found the fin boxes were way to far back so the 5 4 had the same swing weight as my 6 6. Also it was heavy.
The larger Fanatics have bevels as well, but not the 95l.
I am only speaking of my experience and use Moses foils set fully forward. The Fanatic 95l is 6.3kg so average weight and for a big guy swing weight would be insignificant just ask my 105kg friend who also has one.
I had the same 95 litre fanatic. Felt boxy and the parallel rails meant it felt like you have way to much board in front of your feet. Increased the swing weight to. When you heeled over and or hit the surface of the water those rails would bite and dig in. Also Mast track way to far back for the Armstrong foil and volume in the wrong place for kneel starting.
My yob 90 litre is better in every respect and beveled as well. I've proned both boards for sh1ts and giggles and the fanatic had poor forward paddle speed due to the outline and lack of bevels. Hence it was heaps harder to water start than the yob when winging.
Each to their own though. If it works, it works.
