Anyone know of companies selling 1.5m wings? Will be using with my big foil/board combo for lake downwinding in nuking conditions. Was overpowered the other day on my 2.5m in 25kts. Delighted that this was the case as I want the tiniest wing in my hand for downwinding.

Patrik seems to offer a 1.8...

Neilpryde Fly is offered in a 1.4 and 1.8.
Ozone Fly (yes the same name) is offered in a 2.
Bigger question is how you are getting so overpowered on a 2.5 in 25 knots??? Maybe size down your foil.
Matching the foil to the small slow lake bumps for flagged out downwinding. The 2.5 as fine but I was delighted to see that I had more than enough power. I basically want to downwind with an umbrella ![]()

If the wind is inconsistent, a 2m wing can be quite difficult to get going.

The difference my 105L Kalama E3 and Gofoil GT2200 with 20FTL tail makes to getting up early is ridiculous. Can get going in 12-15kts with a 2.5m wing. Possibly less, 10 gusting 12.
I have a 75L Casey Aviator and a 41.5L prone board that I like to use in waves but for small bump, flagged out riding the above combo is my go to.

There are smaller ones as well than the 1.8 m2, for sure. But keep in mind the wing size itself does not say much - how big a wing actually feels varies a lot from brand to brand. For example I can use a 2.6 spin with a 840 cm2 foil and fairly small board when the windsurfers are not even out there yet.
Also bear in mind that dropping from a 2.5 to a 2.0 is like dropping from a 5.0 to a 4.0 in percentage terms.. I've often changed down from an unusably overpowered 2.5 Cab Mantis to being perfectly comfortable on a 2.0 .. the bottom end is equally different.. needs 30knots to get my prone board going with a 2.0 / 899 (65kg)
It also depends what is available in Oz, many local distributors don't bring in really small sizes even if the brand builds sub 2 mtr as little call for them. So you may need to look at importing yourself.
Pat.
My smallest wing is a 2.3m ozone wasp for this style of riding. I see very little gains in going any smaller in wing. I think if you are on a big foil not going fast enough then the wing might feel too big and become overpowered. Probably a time to consider changing down foil size first. I find on the bay runs I've done locally in that much wind on wing I'll have to cut 45 degrees to the wind. Personally I've found the extra small hand wing and the RS1150 to be a great combo downwind Simulation combo. Pump and glide is unreal. I only use the larger GT foils (1770/2200) when I have a paddle in my hands. Keep us posted how you go finding that umbrella.
