I have a 125 L Fanatic V2 board which has a ridged deck padding. When I'm on my knees in the chop trying to get going, I find myself slipping off the deck while I'm wearing a wet suit. I don't have the problem on my Naish 140L because the diamond deck is grippier. I'm wondering if anyone else notices the difference or has a problem with it and if there are any solutions.
No grip issues on my 5'6" TE. Was actually quite surprised at the deck pad grippiness as the board is only plus a couple liters, once I have my winter wetsuit on, and the first couple of sessions saw my feet staying put through some pretty extreme pitch and roll angles while I got to grips with a less stable board than I started on.
Try cleaning it with soap and water. My van's pervious owner cleaned it with a bottle of armor-all which left a ton of shiny cleaning stuff on the plastic floor. When I have my board upside down it slicks it up and I end up slipping all over it. I need to clean it with some all purpose cleaner to get rid of the residue.
Try cleaning it with soap and water.
+1: use some regular detergent such as the ones used to wash floors, with a brush. It may get rid of dust and oil residues that could make your pad slick.
Otherwise, use some wax. One application on a pad should suffice for a very long time.
I bough ultra thin, socks-like, latex boots ("wetty"). They come with slick soles, they just instruct to apply wax on them once, before the first use, no need to re-apply. And it works wonders.
