84kg. Getting most gybes on one tack, some on the other and some toesides. Getting better. Got F-One strike 5m and looking to replace current 4m.
Slingshot V3 on offer and see 3.5m wind range 20-35knots, and 4m 17-30. Relating to windsurf and my reading of windspeeds - at steady 17knots I windsurf 7.5m/6m, 20 - 6m/5.3m and by 25 on 4.7m thinking 4.2m, 30knots on 4.2m maybe 3.7m and by 35knots 3.7m bordering survival. At all these speeds usually get gusts 5knots more. Any windsurfers confirm I could really step off a well-powered 7.5m onto a 4m wing, or be maxed on 3.7m sail and step onto a 3.5m wing?
I can't imagine winging in what I think is 35knots
Lot going on in that post. Will try to answer - but I can't translate windsurf sail sizes.
a 5m combined with a 3.5m works fine as a quiver. Deciding between a 5/4 and a 5/3.5 really just comes down to the max wind in your range. If you think you are going to be riding up to 35, you should definitely go with the 3.5 (which will be overpowered but doable).
There isn't a lot of overlap with the 5/3.5 and most combos of those sizes will have an area where you are riding the 5m pretty high in its range (somewhere around 22-24 kts) before you switch to the 3.5. I think the Strike rides fine at the high end of its range, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue.
Alternatively, go with the 4 if you don't see yourself riding above 30 kts.
