First go of new slick 6m. I noticed the grey end of mini boom had popped out of the rear pocket. The fabric had twisted to the side. I could not move it on the water due to the pressure of wing.
Is there a hack to prevent it happening? I was thinking of stitching in some fabric strap to prevent it.
Thanks.

When you inflating wing make sure boom fully inserted into rear pocket.

I have 3 slicks, each use a different length boom to prevent this from happening, the 4 mtr has the longest boom, the 2.5 the shortest with the 5.5 in the middle. Quality control isn't the strongest at Duotone so pump up your wing without the boom fitted, measure what length boom would suit.

Are they all supposed to be the same length boom? I thought one boom fit all size wings with an option for a shorter one for small wings. Are the pockets stitched in the wrong place or the length of the booms different?
you would think the quality control would be sorted by now.

This was an issue with some of the first slick also...

I notice with my older slick 7m that the boom slips out at some point, about 1". It seems that the little 1" of slip make me lose some low end performance. At the same time maybe making it a little better top end. Probably changing the profile of the wing just a little. I am going to add (stack) some fishing pole shrink wrap to the end to see if that hold the boom in.

It might be a good idea if people here would measure and post their duotone boom's length to see if the length is consistent.

It's a known problem with the first Slicks, I don't know about the current model. The 4mtr is definitely and issue, some have had their wings replaced only to find a similar issue with the replacement, The manufacturing drawing must be wrong and they mount the rear pocket too far aft.

5.5 uses a boom is close to the production boom length. Maybe the 6 needs a longer boom. All my booms are custom so are built to suit each size wing.

Had this problem with the old 4m slick.
Bad photo but clove hitch on boom then tie rope through loop, go sailing.

Slick SLS has a very tight fit compared with old one.

Mine popped out a few times as well but only when I pulled it through a wave getting out .,I did same as Steven F and tied it in but I also never pulled it through the white water again . It never actually came out in use winging . The new SLS Slick is heaps tighter .

My stock aluminum miniboom is 128 cm long. My 3.5 and 5.0 Slicks can be rigged with 130cm booms. I use a custom short boom with the smaller wing (115cm).

My 3D-printable "Hockeyboom" pieces add 42mm to the total length, so a 125cm rod will produce a total boom length of 129.2cm. The "longtail" version tail end piece adds 25mm to this, so if you find the boom slips out, you can replace the short tail piece with a long one. (The round profile doesn't come with a long tail version, but you can either scale up up the part or ask me to add a longer one.)

The 2021 4 mtr Slick boom is 1325mm, this length avoids a pop out issues.
