I'm sad to see that Duotone have dropped the 7 metre wing in the new Slick 2023 model. No doubt there will be some spin that the 6.5 M will cover the light wind range. As a heavier rider (98 kg), my Slick SLS 7 metre is my go-to wing. It has a great range and doesn't back wind when overpowered like the previous model. I only go for my 5 meter Slick when I see plenty of whitecaps.
I don't find the 7 metre Slick cumbersome when gybing. It feels great and I seldom touch a tip in the water, taxiing or on the foil.
Vale the Slick 7 Metre. I only hope my SLS lasts for a couple of years.
Bigger sizes coming sometime this Summer is my guess. Prototypes have been seen around Maui by many people.
I actually switched my whole quiver from original Slick to Slick SLS and one of my self reasonings was no 7m for the Slick v3. I have used the 7m SLS twice and am pretty happy with it, didn't seem to have the low end of the original in terms of pull in the hand but this didn't seem to hold me back, it was easier to pump and had a good top end.
However I am without the 7m SLS now for reasons I won't go into and have a surf trip coming up so have ordered the 6.5m Slick v3 to use on the trip.
Will be able to give you an honest comparison of the three types when I get the v3 wet. At the moment I am of the view that physics wins and more sq area should be better. We will see
