Something has been cooking in the Sabfoil kitchen

Now all we need is a good comparison of those masts; The cedrus evolutuion, NL v2, Axis military grade pro ultra rigid, Sabfoil Piuma and Red Devil, F-one HM, and the other I keep forgetting about.

I can't compare these masts but I have just swapped over from a 93 slingshot aluminium mast to a 96 Sabfoil piuma mast. I have been using SAB foils on he slingshot gear so can directly compare.
The piuma mast is 650g lighter which is instantly noticeable. Certainly feels a lot stiffer than the standard SAB 93 mast, resulting in a more direct feeling when carving the foil hard. A lot lower profile so slippery through the water. Very nice piece of kit, but I'm sure all of them are.

Steve Maier of NoLimitz says a mast can be too stiff:
Without listrening the full 2h I think a mast can be only too stiff when the benefits of the stiffness come at a cost off efficiency do too much drag or being too wide (self steering). Build in flex sounds cool but it will flex with a 50kg kid or girl completely different as with my modest
100kg, so in that case you would need different masts for different weight cattegories.
I just spend a lot of money on another hobby, but I,m on the fence between switching in the summer to the Cedrus Evolution to keep all foiloptions open and switching to AFS Silk with there UHM mast. That combo is verty well build and feels very stiff.

AFAIR, he said super stiff masts feel too direct and hard to control for the average rider. He also mentioned that brands claiming ultra high modulus carbon are lying - you can only get that kind of carbon for military applications and need clearance to get it.
