I have pretty minimal prone experience and have been wondering a bit: Does the board efficiency depend mainly on shape and length? Or is volume critical if you are caught after the wind dies and need to paddle in?

I remember my 8' barracuda at 111l paddled like a dream. My 5'10" 85l carver, not so much in direct comparison.

Pretty much just length. A very thick or wide board is tough to paddle.
