Anyone experiment with using pigtails to connect the 3 sets of parawing lines to the bar. Was thinking it might be nice to be able to detach a set of lines when things get all tangled up.
a loop-loop pigtail works fine. Using it for a brm v1 with greg's latest adjustable A line positioning mod.
Maybe of interest for you:
If the detaching is what you want, i think the feed trough loop and then hook around the bar is pretty neat. More easy than pigtails. Although I think that with releasing the lines, the real mess begins as they are no longer 'in the correct calibration'. Same as with the kite lines back in the days (??), if you focus on getting the lines untangled was more fast than getting the lines out one by one.Detaching the lines to try to solve a tangle is way more likely to make things worse rather than better. Every tangle can be undone without needing to modify the lines. It's really not that hard once you've done it a few times. Since my first 1-2 sessions, I have never had a tangle that took more than a minute or two to unwind, even when on the water in crazy wind+current chop.
^^ also the knots, if they're big enough, in fact any protrusion, is enough to hook a line and cause bit of a tangle.
I found using a leash attached to the tail end of the bar virtually eliminated all tangles.
Real tangles can only happen if the wing passes through the lines, or the bar passes through the lines. A leash makes it impossible for the bar to pass through the lines. All you have to do is follow your arm to the leash, then to the bar and you're good to go. Any lines you come to you just push down your arm/wrist/leash/bar.
For me wing through lines tangles only happened when stowing the wing. The error was to stuff everything away and a line would pass over the top of the wing. The solution was to stow the wing then stow the lines.
