For gods sake wear something other than all black with a balaclava
anything bright!
you're impossible to see and windsurfers are not looking upwind all the time.
I always give way to downwinder folks but I near on killed u the other day.
the white para folded up in your hand is not dissimilar to the chop whitecaps so I didn't see u until the last second.
please!

Was that at Peli Point?
Sounds like it was sheps, he wears all black and face covering and a white pwing
I wear a hooded blue shirt which isn't great and I haven't worn a face covering all summer. Wetsuits are black and I wear one of those too. UV protection is my biggest priority and the best shirt I found isn't available in fluro or I would have bought it. I'm downwinding almost everyday and hardly see a windsurfer as I'm further out most of the time.
I have noticed lots of people every weekend on surf skis, SUP's, paddle foils, parawings and e-assist foils all travelling directly downwind at high speed. Very few of them wearing high viz gear.
This is either a big 'downwind craft' issue, or it's not an issue.
Sheps sorry mate sounds like you. Dark ish blue shirt with hood
invisible off Dutchies a couple weeks ago. White para just looks like chop
buy the new Jaikobi bucket hat helmet thing ![]()

Sorry Mark that would have been me as I dropped into Steps a few weeks ago to catch up with a friend wing foiling en route to Swannie and we flagged a bump to the cove and passed through Dutchies. I doubt I'll head through the wind surfing territory very often but if I do I've got just the outfit..fluro always a good call...

It isn't actually just a visibility thing....... although close in that's definitely an issue with different craft running different lines.
Parawingers tacking back upwind a long way out need to keep an eye out for other downwinders also. On a couple of occasions now I've had to take avoiding action on a dw sup run due to a parawinger with the trash bag deployed totally oblivious to me hacking downwind a km offshore.
Generally I'll give a shout out to make them aware I'm there but on these occasions they either had music on or were grumpy as and didn't want to acknowledge (my voice carries trust me) ![]()

Agreed mate.
lots of different disciplines with different manoeuvrability
but shocked to hear some have headphones in. OMG. Be present and aware and if you are the one with limited ability to stop on a dime, wear Fluoro!!!
