First use today and it delivers. I was initially underwhelmed when I opened the box and saw the chord profile. Lesson learned - don't judge a book by its cover. This foil is thin, fast, stiff, and super responsive. Pumped it up onto foil in a 5-10 mph lull, on a swell, with my 3.6 Flux (basically just forward motion on the swell). I could never do that with my Axis high mod mast. It added bottom and top end and glide to my ART v2 939. Time will tell regarding durability. I waited a bit for this mast because One Ocean started selling out - now I know why.

I have absolutely no affiliation with One Ocean (other than bugging the crap out of them for a shipping date). I weigh about 85 kilos and ride a 60 liter Appletree 'Slice v3.

Glad you like it mate and it is doing the job for you, always good to hear!!
No worries on the bugging us either we are working hard to speed the process up as we are always a little behind it seems at the moment. It's also never a hassle having customers emailing and asking about where a product is so the messages were always welcomed??
If you like the mast just wait until the next new product is released as it's a beauty and I have been frothing riding it. ??

Have you had any experience with the F one adapter? How do you like the setup compared to the F one mast?

Cliffhanger!

Side question, what's the chord on the 75cm SS?

10.2 cord on the 78SSS and 10.5 on the 78SS.

I have the f one adapter as well as my code one, haven't ridden it yet. There's obviously more material their to mate with mast foot, but the Oneocean mast is thinner and narrower than the standard f one UHM. I'll let u know when I've ridden it, just need to trim some bolts.

Where did you get an adaptor from? And what stock foot did you buy to suit F-one.

After more than a year and 80+ sessions my 84 SSS UHM mast is still as new.

Ive recently acquired a 78SSS and bought a CODE adapter locally (Stringy) and also had a custom Stringy adapter made so I could fit my SABFoil SeaDevil. Even with the narrow chord of 102mm my new Manta Flow motor pod V2 that arrived today will fit very nicely once I trim down the front rubber insert to suit.
This mast is super strong, super skinny, super slippery...maybe it should be the SSSSSS. Im going to order a 90cm version for winging.. and yes the mast bag that it comes with is awesome with pockets for wings or a fuse, nuts and bolts etc and the main compartment is big enough so you don't have to wrestle to get the mast in the bag.....

My bad, I was thinking thickness but said chord. What's the difference in thickness for those two 78's?

12.2mm for the 78SSS and 14mm for the 78SS, different foil profiles as well.

This is great to know about. I recently started looking at nolimitz masts for the modularity, but knowing that an aussie company is doing similar is fantastic.

Nolimitz is not modular. They offer a number of different brands, but the foil connection is fixed so you can only use the brand you order. (Although a lot of people ordered a brand like takuma and then use stringy adapters on top for other brands)

Cedrus is universal. I would be very interested in a one ocean with a mast head supporting cedrus adapters for a universal monobloc carbon mast

I consider it modular with the adapters but you're absolutely right, it's quite limited compared to the cedrus. OO + cedrus really would be the best of both worlds. @paul.j

That's another vote for OO with Cedrus head !

If that's the direction Jacko wants to go then so be it. I'm just going to admire and shred on his current vision of a perfect mast instead of hoping it's changed into something else (12.2mm thick and 102mm chord vs 19mm thick and 118mm chord for the adapter head).

My buddy is absolutely freaking out about his first rides on his brand new One Ocean 78SSS that he got today. I look forward to cranking on it myself once his froth settles a bit!

Have to disagree with you I suppose. Understand what you are saying, but look at it differently for three main reasons:

- With only having the Axis/Code/Lift set-up mast, if you ride anything else than that, you need a chunky adapter to fit around the axis sole. Being way more bulky and way less efficient than just a bit thicker cord at the bottom to fit for the Cedrus inserts. A majority of the market is riding F-One / AFS / KT / Duotone (actually just all other brands than those 3 above). If you want to ride those, you will end up with something like this:

- The thickness of the cord cord in the middle does not have to change. It is only the bottom 6 or so cm that should be a bit thicker to 'house' the inserts for the Cedrus adapter. As the biggest win in drag is around the middle, this is less of a factor, but still a big win against the chucky block above. Other masts also flare out at the bottom to accommodate for the connection point and the extra thickness can be blended as well.

- They do not have to discontinue the current Axis/Code/Lift mast. For people who ride those, they still can go for the 'perfect mast'. But offering an extra mast that is adapter compatible, would open op to all those other brands. The masts are made in small badges, so I assume there is no big problem with overstocks of several models.

While the mast within the right 'ecosystem' maybe is the perfect mast, the current option of conversion does make the total set-up far from that for all other brands. I know I would buy an One-Ocean adapter compatible mast straight away and get the feeling I am not alone. The nice thing for One-Ocean is that the Cedrus infrastructure is already there, so you only have to provide the mast, without coming up with a whole adapter-system themselves.

I'm confused. You're disagreeing with me for admiring his vision and sharing that my buddy is stoked on his One Ocean?

I'm not going to respond to your points because I've measured the dims, recorded the real world data, and published the findings on that stuff.

This thread is about the One Ocean mast and my last comment was an attempt to nudge it back on track since it's getting pulled off topic by cedrus stuff. I think if people want a better cedrus mast it would make more sense to take that to a cedrus thread.

Stoked for everyone loving their One Ocean, thanks to paul.j for the hard work put into a side hustle, and again my buddy could not be frothier!

Just got to see it and play with the 78SSS on the beach today. My buddy has used it with code 1130s and AFS silk 850 at this point.
It's gorgeous and freaking stiff. Ridiculous crazy stiff. Unanimous mast envy on the beach over it.
Can't wait to try it.

Did they use the Stringfellow adapter for the AFS foil? If so, did you happen to get any feedback on that adapter? The possibility of sharing a mast between Axis and AFS is very interesting given the identical bolt spacing, but I'm wondering if that adapter works well.

Yes, they are using the Stringfellow adapter which is pretty cool because there aren't any bolts attaching the adapter to the mast. The AFS adapter is kind of like a big shim that just re-shapes the mast head since the AFS and Axis m8 bolt spacing is the same. When I get a day with the mast I'll get the calipers, measuring tape, etc out and get a real deep comparison for ya.

I know I'm repeating myself a bit, but what's peoples thoughts on using this with a chunky adapter like Stringfellows F one adapter if one only will use it with F one foils? Better to use the F one 14 mm mast or do you think the slim profile and chord of the One ocean mast more than compensate for the added drag of the adapter?

Can't answer your F1 specific question, however I got a custom Stringy adapter for my SAB Kraken fuse mount on my SAB SeaDevil. The bolt spacing is the same, so once I found some long M8 countersunk screws I could cut them down to suit (the screws needed to be different lengths due to the slight height offset between the front and rear screw holes) The adapter works fine, however I felt the connection wasn't as strong as possible and relies on the screws to hold everything tight. I've gone ahead and bought a SAB Kraken mast to use with the SeaDevil. The white stuff is lithium grease to make everything slide together easily.

Yeah, it would be good to have it compatible with every brand and you never know what might come in the future as we are always thinking and working on new stuff. When i made the first mast and like most stuff I make it was really just as something i wanted for myself as i wanted a thinner stiffer mast than what was on offer anywhere else and then we have just expanded it from there. All the masts are kind of tarlor made towards different areas of foiling, and even though they can really do it all you will find each mast has been designed with certain aspects of foiling in mind.

Glad a few people out there are enjoying them as much as i do.!!

This one is our new 1080 area X 1273 span X 15AR that is just about to be put online called "Accelerate"
I have been using it heaps lately in some crazy lite and small bump days and loving it. Definitely the easiest DW wing I have used and has opened up a heap of days i normally wouldn't bother with.

Hey man could you do a little review of the 78cm SSS mast compare to the code mast ? How do you find it ? does it really make a difference ? No problems or wobble with the stringy adapter ?
