Hi guys
With wearing boardies for winging, I ended up with twice open wounded knees
, especially using the stink bug start. Anyone has the same experience and has any solution?
Thanks a lot

Wear full wettie or learn to sinker start. Did the exact same thing, you get away with bad technique in winter with all the protection on your knees
I used paddling pants (half a wetsuit) for the first time with my foil just in case I kicked it, which I did. Obviously protects your knees too. I'm now back to boardies as my deck is pretty soft and I'm more conscious of where the foil is.
Or maybe try compression knee supports, cost like $10ea from a chemist.

What did you cut your knees on? My board has deck grip all over so is soft on the knees.

Deck grip if too aggressive will give you grazes when going from surf stance to knee on board. The extra sun protection from a full wettie is an additional bonus

Yep, I see people out learning in boardies, spending heaps of time on their knees and elbows, must be the cool thing to do. They come in with red raw knees and forearms, so painful. Cheap steamer, so much more comfortable and keeps the sun off. The wind chill from the breeze even in summer keeps you cool.
Wetsuit when it's colder, Fox enduro mountain bike knee pads (they look like wetsuit material) work a treat in warmer weather.

Just rubbing of my knees on the deck pad....
Might try something like this
www.whitworths.com.au/musto-neoprene-knee-pads
MTB ones better
I got musto ones - not very secure for rigours of foiling
got some mountain bike ones with full sleeve and tough front pad
see my thread on knobbly knees
I just bought a set of Sharkskin performance wear Lite pants as a full steamer is too hot most of the year. ,
The Sharkskins are easy to get in and out of and don't restrict your movement and give sun and wind protection and will probably keep me warm most of the year (Sydney)
OR just buy slip on knee compression tubes from the chemist for under $20 each

Not a fashion statement dude. You'll realise how much wetsuits suck when you start using thermal rashies like Radiator or Sharkskin. Way lighter, easier to put on/off, easier to wash, store, don't smell, more compact, hold less water, fast drying.......... I haven't worn a wetsuit in years..

Only saying a wetsuit because you can just use cheap ones, I've seen holes worn in very expensive wetsuits from the rough deck grip on some boards.
I'm saying people prefer board shorts to wetsuits because they know better options exist, not because they think they are cool.
And getting a whole wetsuit, even a cheap one, just to protect your knees seems major overkill. Plenty of other options available.
