I've been trying to buy a Nova Pro 2.9m for strong wind use. Apparently there's only two in the world and they're somewhere in Europe, and North have "... no definitive date when those products will get restocked ..."

My 2025 Nova Pro 3.5m is ok to 35+ knots, but it's not all that relaxing. Mistakes are usually rewarded with a smack down.

I'm looking at getting a non-Pro Nova, either a 2025 2.9m or a 2024 2.9m or 2.5m. It's confusing because the wind ranges on the North web site are are different for the various model years and sizes.

Can anybody offer any recommendations for a North Nova wing to handle 30-40+ knots, but have sufficient low end power to get going in lulls down to about 20 knots?

Asking any single wing to handle 30-40 knts but get going in 20knts is a wide range.

I use a 3.5-4m in 20knts, and 3m in 30knts. I'm a bit over 90kg, and I swap foil size to assist, have 700, 900 and 1000 foils.

I've ridden 3m North standard edition in 40knts and it was fun, no need for the "pro" materials when it gets wild.

Hopefully yours will turn up because it's already ordered and on it's way.

I checked all the online shops in Australia. All listed various sizes, including the 2.9m as available for pre-order. Only one had the 2.9m available for order.

I visited my local shop and they had nothing available. They checked the local distributor and no stock was available and nothing on the way.

I ordered from the one shop that showed the 2.9m as being available. The order went through but was cancelled the next day due to no stock.

I checked all the web shops I could find worldwide. US shops only had pre-orders. One UK shop said it had stock but it would have been crazy expensive to order and ship and I had no confidence they had actual product to send given my earlier attempts.

I contacted North and they said:

thanks for reaching out.

Indeed the Nova Pro 2.9m is currently sold out in many places. There are a couple of shops in Europe that still have stock. ?Currently there is no definitive date when those products will get restocked in the UK/US.

The older model Nova claims 20-40 knots for the 2.5m. My old wings easily covered 20 to well over 40 knots. They were old school and had plenty of flex. They would soak up mega-gusts but were very bagged out. It's not unreasonable to expect to be able to pump onto foil with a smallish wing with a bit of a gust, some decent technique and a good foil.

The Nova and Mode Pro are super stiff and initially harsh in very strong conditions. We have "reached an accommodation" where I can handle the overpowered feeling of the 3.5m and sort of sneak through the gusts. I've just unloaded a heap of old gear so I'm going to treat myself to a new wing. Those 35-45 knot days are rare, but also the best fun.
