I had a quick session on the Smik Parawing prototype over the weekend, and Scotty has really come up with something special. It rode exceptionally well-super stable with no flutter. It tracked upwind efficiently and stowed well for a 4.2m wing with 4 sets of lines. Yes you heard right 4 sets.

The wing features four sets of lines, including an adjustable second set at the bar, allowing you to tweak the profile for either low or high wind conditions. It's still early days, but the design shows a lot of promise.

Scotty is heading east with it soon worth hitting him up for a demo ride.

Looks the goods

Is WANG a new Thang? or did I miss the memo where Parawings are now Wangs?

Still remember when I first saw the word Parawing and my brain just saw Prawn-ing

Heard it a few times in different forums. Easier to write than parawing and may upset the wingers here less

I rock a quiver of Smik V4 wings which I've been a big fan of so be interested to see how the parawing turns out.

As someone in the early stages of parawing (using an ozone) I'd like to see all parawings come out with colour coded lines and bar ends. With no kiting background I'm a frequent tangler and the colour coding makes it a tad easier to sort out.

I also use the different coloured leading edge a lot when launching.

Hopefully small things that will be added to Smiks final design

This is great. Between dinging and wanging, we're starting to sound like skate where nobody else knows wtf you're talking about.
however, Scotty's wang is not high on my list to try

He is on to the line colours and leading edge colour

Nice one Hilly definitely excited about the smik pwing. Tell Scotty to check out the 2:1 line system from Dimitry Evseev if he can come up with a refined version of this it will be a game changer.

Why not just write pwing?
Wang is a slang term for dick. We already have the Roger, the D-wing and the pocket rocket I don't think parawinging needs any more penis jokes.

Geez you're pretty good on the PW Hilly. Looks to have similar stability to the Ozone - which is a great thing. I wonder if they'll be as competitively priced as the Smik wings.

Nah, that's a kite foil racing stance.

Ok so it looks like the retail version has hit the market. Anyone got any first hand experience on it yet, especially interested in how it weighs up against the pocket rocket and frigates of the parawing world. Pricing is far more reasonable.

That's because when you sail them you are a wangker.

Congrats, I'm really hoping it goes well and sets a new price point.

Will you be able to compare vs other PW's or are you brand new to PW?

Look forward to your feedback!

it's HALF the price of a Frigate, Ozone, or BRM in Oz - two new wangs for the price of one - wow!

I had the V1 when they first came out And I got to say they were better than many of the big brands at the time.I expect that the parawing will be the same. Look for-would to seeing some in Sydney,

I spoke to my mate about them at the beach today and he's just messaged me to tell me he's preordered one. I'll probably give my shop a call in the next couple of days to "enquire" as well. So there'll be a few floating around Cronulla area I'd say.

Yeah early on in winging Smik brought out one of the best wings at the time so hopefully his parawing is also a winner.
Definitely good to see the smaller brands like Smik and 777 nipping at the heals of the bigger brands and keeping the prices honest. $1800 for a floppy bit of fabric with a bunch of strings is waaaayy too much! The prices from Smik and 777 are about fair I reckon

Its a shame that basically every description of a product now is AI generated, but it would be nice if businesses at least pretended they were doing some of their own work by checking what they cut and paste from ChatGPT.
