Hi, I am moving to New York City this spring and was wondering if anyone has any ideas about decent wingfoiling locations (ideally some waves) and potentially also some wave sailing (windsurfing) hints.
any feedback is highly appreciated. I was not able to find a lot on Google so wondering if I will be the only one trying to wingfoil and/or wave sail in NYC.

Hi we have good spots on Long Island for wing foiling, surfing, kiting, and windsurfing. I mostly wing foil and windsurf (waves). I live in NY city. Most spots are an hour away. Happy to introduce you to our local wind tribe.
Gilgo in NY but the wind is often weak around here. If you go north to RI (point Judith) and MA you can find much more consistent spots. Wind season is generally cold season
there is also a crew winging and downwinding out of NJ (sandy hook and Belmar). I've been meaning to get in with them but haven't yet.

I've been windsurfing here for 30 years and have added kitesurfing/foiling and wingfoiling over the years. There are great spots in the area. You should check out Napeague Harbor (between Montauk and Amagansett). Great flatwater spot for learning and amazing seabreeze in the summer normally starting around 2:30pm. It is blowing 16-22mph most days between May and end of July as long as it is warm and sunny. August is usually the worst windwise, that's when we go kitefoiling. Outside of these months wind depends on storm systems which are a bit less reliable but usually you can be on the water at least 2-3 days per week. Great wave spots in addition to the ones listed are in Montauk at Ditch Plains. When a strong Northeaster hits in the fall and spring the large bay which is open to the ocean to the north of Napeague will have really nice swells. iwindsurf has very good windforecast for the area and sensors in the key locations. Any idea how to to figure out which spot works best in terms of wind direction?. Eg tomorrows forecast is ENE wind direction and I wonder which spots might work (Sandy Hook, plumb beach, Gilgo or Belmar (oceanbound)?)
(BTW is Sandy Hook working for wingfoiling or is it to shallow for wingfoiling?)
