Interested to hear how people are finding the new Duotone Unit and SLS versions? Currently use Slick 2023 and thinking of upgrading. I love the booms on the Slicks. Have Duotone discontinued the Slick now? appreciate any feedback
I love this wing, In my opinion the second best wing on the market now. After the DLab. Just direct in the middle between the regular and DLab wing.
That takes light wind foiling to a new level !
Thanks :-) More such videos to find here in my YT:
I owned the 3+4m normal Unit 2025 and the 5m SLS and altough I can see it can work for some people, it wasnt my wing and i,m happy that I sold them to replace by others.
What did I not like:
They are prone to flip over while sitting in the water and the 3m was quickly bounching up and down. I,m used to wings that don,t do that.
The flagging was okay, but not even close to the Flux that I used before (and still keep for the big days where there is a good change of destroying a wing). Winging is for me surf as much as I can, o when a wing isnt really balanced when flagging its not my cup of tea.
I found the SLS too stiff when pumping on the foil. Yes you can put less air in it, but i,m 97kg so not especially a lightweight. If I need to put less air in them how would that be for a lighter person. My Flux is more effective and so is the Dlab from 2022...
annoying but something you know when buying Duotone:They are not exactly cheap, and you still have to buy handles or a boom a leash and a valva adapter or duotone pump. I can understand that you let people choose between handles and a boom and maybe already have a leash, but at least add that stupid pumpadapter to the package.
Liked: Tacks likes a dream. great for mowing the lane.Probably great for jumping (but I ride strapless) and other freestyle stuff
Ended up buying Vayu Aura3 wings and they suit me much better.Similar low end , range and tacking, behaves overall really well, the best I tried so far in surfing, comes with hard and softhandles, a proper leash and pumpadapter. Potential downsides: quite German looks instead of fancy colours, but the looks suits the old fart that I am
I now have Duotone Float in 3.5 and 4.5 plus 2025 Unit 5.5 and a 7m Duotone Ventis. All works well for me.
The Floats are amazing, don't like being upside-down, wanting to flip right side up, handle turbulent wind and gust with ease, and super stable. So, for smaller windwings, these are my choices.
For lighter and light wind, the 5.5 Unit Dlab and Ventis work nicely. The Ventis is super stable and handles a big wind range. Its weight is not an issue.
I demoed the 5.5 Unit SLS and preferred my 2 year old dlab.
