This is an interesting listen, especially regarding the "mustache tip" shape, what it does and how axis developed it into their new wing.

I will be picking a 950 up this afternoon, should be great for the stronger/ better bump days on the parawing.

Any ride reports popping up on this yet?

I have access to demo the Surges but I've never met an Axis foil I've liked so don't know if I'll be the best judge. Probably within the next week or so conditions dependent and can compare mostly vs Code S/X

I've never owned an Axis foil but I'm always curious about new stuff. Comparing it to the Code will be a good review position. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Keen for anyone's thoughts on Surge sizing vs the spitfires. Im 85kg winging and my go to is the SF840 which I can ride in 16-25 knots, waves of course.im keen for my first surge purchase to somewhat cover this, not sure if the 830 or 890 is the one.seems like I might save for the 950 for a parawing option later.

Axis quality wasn't the best in the past. Now after Spitefire and art V2 they jump on mustache shape. Other did this before. Ratio over 9..? Not really a modern Surffoil!? I saw they changed the Fuselage finally. Good idea to add the inserts in the screwholes. KT and DT also did it before.

Got my first ride on the 950 surge yesterday. Very nice, plenty of lift, I would say more lift than the ART v2 999. Maybe closer to a 900 or 960 spitfire. Hard to say as it's been a while since Ive been on those wings. I am 105kg on a parawing and prefer bigger foils so definitely wouldn't worry about lift on the surge for the average rider. The foil engages early too which helps it to pump up. Also nice speed, glide, turns really well, capable of riding slow with good stall speed but also fast and glidy, should have awesome range. The higher camber foil section gives it a different feel than other axis wings Ive used ( haven't used fireball yet). Only had a short run on it because there was too much bloody seaweed so I swapped out for the old trusty seaweed plow the SF 1180.

Overall stoked with the wing, should serve me perfectly for parawing and sup surf. I am thinking a 950 + 1080 surge would cover me for everything I want to do sup surf, parawing and wing in anything from small bumps up to proper big swells.

Great review
I have the 830 surge for winging and I can get going in the same conditions as the v2 999 with my kalama it turns amazing and controlled breaching it's a great wing it is no where near as fast as the fireball or v2 my max so far on the surge is 18 mph but it gets going a lot earlier

Thanks for the info - any thoughts on whether the ARTV2 1099 has more lift \ engages earlier than the 950 Surge ?

I think the ART V2 1099 still has more lift than the surge 950, it could be a bit close though so I would have to do some more testing to be sure. I think the ART v2 1099 will still be better at riding slower/ smaller bumps. I got the 950 surge to sit under the 1099v2 in my quiver. So I hope the difference is decent, surge definitely feels like it will have a lot more top end. The ARTv2 1099 has been my go to wing for parawing and Ive used it plenty sup surfing. Definitely a great wing so not in a rush to change it.
