Hi. I parawing a lot these days, using a Gong V2 foil. However today i tried a friend's Fone skate 800ish cm...it changed my life : almost no drag with 14mm mast, extreme glide compared to my 1100 cm2 gong...so i cannot be more excited to choose my new foil. I was wondering if some of you tried different brands (KT Fone and Code/AFS) and could help me choose my new foil.. im not too rich so i cant afford to buy and then resell and buy another right away. If i buy a foil its for 2-3 years lol

My program : wing sometimes, parawing as much as possible in light conditions (13-25 maybe), trying to begin downwind foil but i have a small board so we'll see. Im searching for maximum glide, great low end, i dont care much about the top end as long as im able to climb to 20-23 confortably, and easy (early takeoff).
For parawinging id like to have a great upwind, extreme glide and maybe be able to carve as much as its possible to

From what i read here, i see 3 different brands/foils that might be good for my program in 900ish surface :
-Fone Eagle X
-AFS enduro or Pure
-Code Foils (dont know much about the brand)
-KT Atlas.

What do you think ? Thanks !
For r?f?rence im 75kg all wet, with a 6'6 88L Dragonfly Ginxu from KT and a Gong V2 neutra parawing

Gong Veloce v3 is awesome and describe what you want to do.
I use mine for winging and parawinging.
Last year I tried the Sk8 in the same size as my YpraS surf freestyle and didn't think it offered anything much different.
This year only been riding Veloce v3 it's so good.
Not sure what mast you're on but that also makes a difference.

Code are very good had them for a few years. Sounds like the R series is what would suit you.
AFS Enduros which I ride now are excellent. Stiff mast and a hoot to wing or pwing due to how they turn and glide. From your list that would be my pick.
Demo if you can.
This may be of interest

I'm very happy parawinging my F one Eagle x 900; good low end, good glide, surprisingly good carving. Considering how big a difference it made going from the 16mm mast to 14 mm HM, I'd be very curious to try F4 foils and would seriously consider them if I were buying into a new brand. They have a mast that's supposed to be 11.3mm thick with 100mm chord. Walt was crazy excited about riding it with their DW 12 AR foil Orca on X foils podcast episode #44. Buy it and let us know!

Otherwise AFS with Enduro foils seem very nice!

You tried a proper surf foil(the sk8 which you liked) and your skipping over higher aspect pump and glide surf foils and going straight to pure DW foils? I mean that stuff was all race gear just last year before the arms race made people invent 15 AR or whatever nonsense is being raced today. I mean everything your shopping is more than 1M
span in the 900-1000 range. I wouldn't voluntarily ride that span if you put a gun to my head!

For parawing and learning to dw the foils in the range of 12 aspect like the eagle x carve way better than you might think in the ocean bumps. Surf foils might be great parawinging at hood but in the ocean I think people will still need the glide of the 12 aspect until they are pretty much in the very experienced category. To carry speed out of your carves in the bumps in order to join the next section for another turn most will appreciate that extra glide.
i have skate for towing and eagles for surfing but for dw parawing the eagle x is a carving dream.

I pair my Eagle X with a small short carving tail (xxxs c160) and actually think the combo is a real carving machine. I have a sk8 850 and 650 as well, but they are quite difficult to ride open ocean swell with. The problem with 8 AR foils in dw conditions is that you need enough speed to keep up with the the bumps, so you can't go to big, but at same time you need enough lift to stay up in the bad sections. Eagle x just has a far bigger comfortable range. If you're really good at pumping and finding energy it would probably be fine, but for a mortal like myself it's nice with the extra glide.

I agree with TME, don't forget to try a few more surf foils at this time. The Silks from AFS are amazing and if you go enduro I would focus on the 700/800 sizes. 900 is the largest I'd consider.

I came from Armstrong HA and switched to KT Atlas after trying Fone SK8 and Code S. KT has best low end, is surprisingly "carvy" for such a high aspect foil, amazing glide and good top end (depending on size I top out at 25-29mph). KT has a surprising mix of feeling very stable and reassuring but at the same time turns really tight high speed turns without any effort. It made me a much better foiler, both in Maui winter waves and NY flatwater summer conditions. At 88kg I ride 1130 in 7-12kts, 790 in 12-18kts and 680 above 17kts. Size down compared to other brands, the design creates a ton of lift.

Thanks for the feedback on the Atlas. Might go for it.F4 is expensive af, same for Fone, and i ride a KT board and am very happy with it. Only problem is the price. So far im still hesitant between Gong V3 (cheap and does the job) or match between KT and Fone but for the same price i'll get KT if I can. Now it only d?pends on whether i choose to spend 1300? on a brand new foil or 1900 on a used KT (not much secondhand available in France)
Will try to give a hinest feedback on the foil i will buy

+1
what he said - but on 570, 790, 1130 (75kg) - was on North before.

I would seriously reconsider moving away from gong, especially if (as you described) money is a consideration.
i'm using the veloce h v3 (M 890 & L 1040) for winging, downwind and dockstart and been absolutely loving it. These are very glidey and have a very good low end. You can easily wing the 890 in about 13+ knots with proper technique. I've tested many different foils and never fellt like something way outperformed my veloce. It's always pros and cons.

Last year i was on the sk8 850 and I like my veloce 890 better for my use cases.

Yes. For what I do, I like the regular one more. Even in Downwinding I much prefer the better carving and low-end of the regular Veloce to the better glide and efficiency of the HDW.
