I've said for a while that the shape of foil boards is very suited to hollow construction.

They are mind blowing. I rode them in June at the importers meeting. You honestly can't imagine how light they are, but more so how stiff and strong they feel! The skin tension is insane.

They're not going to be cheap, and only available by order, but we are taking orders now if you are interested -Through your local Naish dealer or via windgenuity.com.au/shop/nvision-chimera/ & windgenuity.com.au/shop/nvision-odyssey/

I am placing orders in 2 weeks, so to be in he first batch, you'll need to get your orders in quickly.

Ride safe,

JB

How does the light weight affect the board potentially flipping in high winds when crashing? My old "square" board (99l) would occasionally flip in 30+kn. My smaller volume midlength (85l) hasn't flipped yet in those conditions. I think thats mostly due to the narrower profile of the board.

But i'm curious if the lighter weight of the hollow boards undo that a bit.

well, the marketing deparments won?t tell you too much about the disadvantages I guess.....
But you are right. In +25 knots conditions it will move around the beach by just placing it there.
You cannot have it all.

I have a Starboad inflatable carbon board for traveling. it is really light. under 6kg for the 110 liter version.
Way lighter than a hardboard of same size and it got blowen over the beach sveral times during my last holiday trip to the greek islands with meltemi winds at daily over 25 knots for one week. Had to put a sandbag on it and build an "aerodynamic ramp" by sand for guiding the wind around it.
Used the frontwing as an anchor as well. With my hardboards I never had these issues before.
As the hollow boards are even ligther this problem will even increase.

luxury problem though. If you are on spots like these you won?t need a hollow board at all
