Hi David. I haven't followed your videos for a long while but just started looking a wingfoils stuff. What's the deal with the boom? Is it just the camera pole that you keep strapped to the wing straps when not in use? It seems to go away then re-appear. Sorry if it's been covered before...

Wow - that looks like fun! Pretty creative with the camera angles too - thanks for going to the effort!

Ha.. Yeah it comes and goes in the vid and it's slightly annoying to watch.. I first went out with my GoPro on my helmet and came back in and attached the boom.. Then I went out with the GoPro on my wing tip.. and then later with my back-pack mount.. I mixed the footage after to change the views in the vid.

I was wondering what the boom would feel like and because I had a short length of carbon tube from a broken SUP paddle and the Naish Wing-Surfer wings have Velcro tabs to attach a paddle it was easy to do.

I had no problems with the handles before and after this little test with the boom I prefer the handles.. Besides adding noticeable weight and banging on the board issues I found the handles softer and took less effort to hold than the solid boom even though I have a windsurfing background.. I was expecting the opposite.

Sailing one handed felt slightly easier and the ability to easily attach harness lines might make it worthwhile for some and it's nice to know the option is there if you want it.

Thanks.. Two hours exercise time a day now doesn't give me time to get down your way and having that 5 klm limit on travel makes it impossible.. I live in Surf St Parkdale and can just carry my gear across the road to the water so that's nice.. Hopefully lockdown will end soon and we can catch up again either up here or down at Point Leo/Shoreham where you are.
