Exploring changing foil brands and wondering bout mast length measurements. I know both lift and Armstrong measure from the board mount plate to the top of the fuse. Pretty sure axis measures to the bottom? It's a pretty big different when the fuse height is 40 odd mm.

funny u just started this thread... as i just learned about this...
my AXIS HM 90 measures to the bottom of the fuse. my axis fuse is approx 4cm in depth and is included in the 90mm axis mast measurement.
my Fone 80 UHM :o) measures to the top of the fuse. so the fuse depth is excluded in Fone's mast height measurement.
the effective difference in ride height between these 2 masts is 6cm.
I made an inquiry about Cabrinha at my local shop and they measured a 94cm hollow carbon mast for
me and it's 92 to the top of fuse and 96 to the bottom so Cabrinha measures to the middle

Well for me it makes sense to measure the wetted surface area as that's the part that counts in my mind.
The head section can be different for every brand depending on the depth of the Tuttle they are running so if one is to measure this then it would be hard to get an accurate idea of what height mast you are really getting.
Like just about everything in this sport everyone has different ideas and no standards so hard to get everyone to agree on doing anything one certain way to make life easy for the customer.

Shallow water makes a difference. If you are used to 85cm a 80cm mast feels short. More responsive, easier to get the tip out and easier to breach. Longer mast is harder to get going.

Gong 92 cm HM, Measures 92 from bottom board baseplate to above fuselage. From top board mount plate to bottom fuse 96,5 cm.

Ok well thats a lot more than your initial post and of course 115mm is significant
I still suggest the 40mm is nice to know about so a list like you suggest could be good....so we know real numbers.... but it's nice to know only.
If it was that significant to tune board to foil distance, we'd have manufacturers making masts in 50mm increments ...?

Sorry my original post wasn't up to your standard Mark.
Diff between some axis masts are as little as 70mm. Same with armie and I'm sure some others brands. The new F one masts will come in a 80cm or 85cm so there ya go. Maybe they will come out with 75 and 90 aswell who knows.
I feel and others I have spoken to aswell, that Mast length is really important. It's the first thing I look at when considering a brand. If they don't have a 80cm mast measuring to the top of the fuse im not interested... why I started the topic
Put mate's 90cm Fanatic set up next to my Armstrong 85cm and looked about 2cm longer, not 5cm
