I've only just started switching back and forth with front wings (1250, 1450, 1800 HA) and I'm having trouble dialing in the mast placement. Is there a foolproof way to get the mast placement right before I hit the water?
Also, wondering for wing and also for prone foiling in waves, does wave height affect mast placement for the same foil? I was in 4 ft waves and I had the mast too far forward. Next time out, I pushed it back, but the waves were only 2 ft. and I nosed dived on the first few waves before I adjusted.
Also, I've been thinking about bringing a small torx driver out w/ me in case I need to adjust in the water. Anyone doing that?

I pretty much find my position and leave it there for the most part. Sometimes a borrow a large low aspect wing from work (2200 F-One Gravity), have to move my mast 0,5cm forward to compensate. Also found using the 5/4.2m Swing V2's from work as opposed to my Strikes need me to ride my mast further forward as they have the power more on the front hand. No real experience in changing my mastfoot according to conditions, but pretty much never go more than a cm from my "sweetspot" with 5m2 Strike and 1480 Phantom. I've found anywhere else than my sweetspot setup with the Phantom to be a lot less efficient for foilpumping (& dockstarting) though, so thats my main trim metric.
Dialing in anything requires time, experience, and thought.
Nothing comes free from the book.
So yes, try each foil and find the best position.
At least you're not mixing ha with la foils.
I picked up stainless steel wing nut screws from a local fastener supplier. They worked great for easy adjustment on the water until I bought a carbon mast and worried about scratching it, like a big fat wuss burger.
