I weigh 68 kg (150 lbs) and I'm riding a 95 L with a 1800 HA foil and a 5 M wing. I had 3 sessions in a row recently where the wind was frustratingly at the limit of what I could pump up on. Scattered whitecaps, and I think it was probably steady 10 with gusts to 12. It was the gusts (and some help from the swell) that was getting me on foil.
I'm thinking about getting a wing for those days where there's just scattered whitecaps. I have all Naish gear and would like to stick with that, and I was thinking about getting the MK4 either the 7.5 or the 6.5. The goal is surfing waves.
Any advice?

You know the answer. You need a bigger wing, get a CWC 7 or at least a 6 and your life will improve.
Hey crashflow. I use similar dimension gear to you to get going in light winds. 5m Slick is perfect for my size. Bigger than that, and I'm touching the wingtips when pumping to get up and going. I'd suggest try before you buy as a wing bigger than 5m for me actually detracts from my ability to get going in light winds. I'm 175cm tall.
I've used the Naish wings before and they're not for me. I found the handles to be floppy and meant that I lacked fine control of the wing. The Duotone booms and handles on the Slick and Unit I find are fantastic for control and make me feel like I can extract every ounce of performance out of the wing. That said, there are obviously lots of foilers out there who use Naish gear and make me look like a muppet.
How long have you been winging for? I've found my wing pumping technique after a year, is still improving so you might have more room in terms of technique refinement??
You don't say how much experience you have or what the 5m wing is but at your weight but a 5m will easily pump you off the water in that wind with experience.
Ha1800 is a very big foil for your weight but if it is experience you are chasing then maybe a bigger wing but a stiff powerful brand in a 6m.
when you are good at pumping up with a quality 5m wing you won't surf a bigger wing.
Naish Matador 5m or Matador Lt 5m has masses of low end power,
I'm 75 k riding an 85 litre board with 1240 HA foil, and don't need anything bigger.
A 6m MK4 WingSurfer wing would be perfect for what you're after and I don't think there's a need to go any bigger at your weight.. These new MK4 wings are very different from other wings that Naish have made being much stiffer and noticeably more powerful.
Three sessions is nothing.. It takes time and it's all about technique.. (and also time on the water).. The HA1800 foil is a great foil but down the track if you want to get into surfing waves a smaller foil might be needed..
I'm 100kgs and my new 5m MK4 wing gets me up and going in very light winds.
Long time lurker, first time poster.
I am 70kg and riding and 85l Hover was sceptical of going big with the wing. Where I'm living now, it's often 10kn and tried the 7.5m Mk4 and it made a huge difference, no more pumping like a madman, easily thru holes in the wind and much more time on foil.
I've used the 7.5m in up to 15kn when the wind has picked up and it's still manageable. It also lets me use smaller foils.

You didn't say which 5M you were on? I have the 5 and 6 M Matador LT and they are power houses and I'm 80 kg's. As you already have a 5, I'd lean towards a 6 M. Either the Matador LT or MK4 would work. You'd be surprised by the high end as well. I also had the FOne 6 CWC and it's a great power wing w great control but I'm just not a fan of the floppy handles for jumping and certain transitions.
At your weight w the 1800HA and a powerful 6, once your technique is dialed in, if you can't get up, then it's a great day to do something else. ??
I'm happy to see a sub 12 knot day every now and then, helps me concentrate on the rest of the life stuff.
