I've ridden the Konrad V3 3M and 4M and a 2020 Unit 4M and 5M very briefly (not the latest gen).
Konrad V3: They tightened the canopy and changed the handles to long, softish straps. Easy sheeting angles, more stable than previous gens and flag out for riding waves beautifully. Very well behaved for newer riders. Fuller profiles with accessible power. Generally speaking the Konrads do everything with solid performance but haven't "wowed" me with the exception of the drifting ability for riding. They have a softer, easier feel than other wings, making them perfect for learning on, gust eating or just cruising comfortably. I love the idea of longer, fairly stiff/direct strap/handles but the execution of Konrad handles has the soft material around the stiffer core twisting a bit too much IMHO. Windows were removed from previous gens; your needs will dictate whether this is a negative.
Duotone Unit: Immediately looks like a pretty refined piece of kit. Tighter canopy, more dihedral, stiffer, more powerful, more direct, larger leading edge (I believe), more direct feel. Fewer areas to scrape knuckles. Somehow felt faster to me than the Konrad but it's only a feeling. Handles felt great and the new gen has even better looking ergonomic handles.
My preference is for the Unit overall, though the Konrads are very nice as long as you like a softer, easier, less direct feel both in the handles as well as the frame. I seem to be moving towards the stiffer, gruntier wings like the Armstrong and Takuma despite the minor weight penalties. I prefer to ride swell and waves as much as possible but I like a rigid frame and higher riding speeds while powered on higher aspect foils (Armstrong). For these reasons the Unit felt better matched to me out of the two.
Thanks Windoc , that's a really great comparison much appreciated, I was kind of leaning towards the Unit as I had one before and really liked it , great info I'm mainly DW and wave riding so I think I'll grab another one.
cheers Kobo !
