Konrad ST foil first impression photos

I have been testing a set of demo Konrad ST foil from Mark at WA SURF (Safety Bay, WA) for past few weeks and like to share details and my observations ..

I have with me a set of demo kit, consisting

75cm and 85cm HM carbon mast
Medium and Long carbon fuselage
ST1400, 1250 and 950 'Surf Thin' series
S330 and S290 stabs

and I had them on both my 56L Amos Nitro and a demo 82L PPC Soar board ..



I will go thru some photos of the foil system and some personal feedback ...

Feels well designed and rigid, reasonable 3.2kg for the ST950, 85cm mast, medium fuse, S330.


Titanium hardware provided with fuselage thru the mast and secured by 3 x M8 screws as following ..





.. I feel no front foil to fuse to mast play or flex with the M8s are tightened and after 6 sessions incl. pumping around on flat and wind swells with both the ST1400 and ST1250.

Rear stab is secured by 2 x M6 and can be secured in 3 positions to tweak stability and lift a bit.


Titanium hardware all round. Some with two Allen Torx keys (would have preferred nice T handle drivers but that's just being petty hhh).


I did a compare against my current Axis HPS830 with Advance Ultra Short fuse and 375P with front of mast aligned .. just for comparison sake.


So far I have foiled two setups. ST1400/S330 and long fuse on the river for lighter winds 4.8m PPC and in the ocean small wind swells with a 3.8m PPC and ST950/S290/short fuse. My take is there were no surprises. The kit's well designed and put together. Rides quiet and no needing any sanding etc (and its a demo so .. ). The ST is reasonably fast, I feel the ST950 and HPS830 pretty similar stall and cruising speeds and happy with both.

So, maybe give Konrad a look .. they are a legit NSW business and been around a while. I want to check out their 'speed' series GT1100/1250 next and let you guys know how they ride.

The ST series is a great all-round surf wing. The GT is the higher-performance wing if you want something faster!
