Hi,
Me: 75kg beginner (starting to fly), i am looking at replacing my JP inflatable 5.5 wingair
Is the 5.5 x-winger IPR good compared to fone rocket or fanatic sky ? Quick take off ? Board quality ( seems fanatic had issues ) ?
i am based south of France, so to be used mainly at sea , including in low wind conditions.

JP If you are in the South of France why not buy French, Gong Galaxy at La Baule has one of the biggest Wing Foil stores in the whole of Europe (I used to have a JP surf sup and they make good gear, so JP is also a great choice)

I got an x-winger last year. It's an OK board, but the tail kick and other parts of the deck padding ripped of after a few sessions. This was in completely normal use and I hadn't had any problems with my previous board. They would have sent me a replacement if I sawed the board in half, but breaking things on purpose is completely unreasonable these days when we're trying to reduce waste and improve sustainability, so I'm still riding my scarred board :D

Jo!
I got X-winger IPR for over half an year. I think it's cool. No big quality problems and it lifts pretty easy. Straps are cool and screws too. I think gong got more problems with quality. Jp produces at copra. Gong not as far I know. I had pad problems just at an small area. But overall no bigger problems. I got the impression it's durable at all.

Gong is french but they do not produce in france. I did own a hype and my JP is much better IMHO.
i might buy takoon however ( they produce in portugual) .

@Naranek good for you, hope the board rewards you, R06 does it matter where the boards are made - if it's well designed and well made and does what you want - have you checked out Hadou's reviews, they are pretty reliable and always a fun watch, as each maker seems to hit different sizes ie 65l or 69l or 70l sometimes a board just comes along that fits your personal needs no matter the brand, hope you find what you want - I ride the Lethal and am very very happy with my choice

I have the JP FoilSup. Now third season, still in great condition. Just usual signs of usage.

If you're based in France, consider Takoon, Levitaz or Appletree as well. All produced in Portugal. Not sure where AFS produces it's boards.

I owned 4 inflatables from gong, as well as two of my friends use them. No problems, very good board, especially hipe pro.

I have few hipes and Takoon Glide. Glide is really stiff board and glides well. Much better than inflatable boards. I use it with 600-1000cm2 ha foils. The board has been used in very harsh conditions and has held up well. It's not the lightest board on the market. I don't do any jumping, so I don't have any experience with that. The fact that the board was made in Europe (living in Finland) was significant for me because I don't want to unnecessarily add shipping around the world.

We use Gong Hipe and Takoon glide in this winter video. Both works well also in cold weather.

I've used the x winger 5,0 at 95 L, good in light wind gets up early. In choppy water and lighter wind conditions it's a little harder to build up speed but that might be a common problem many short and wide boards have. Find the quality to be good and the long tracks are great

I had 5.0 95lt X-winger pro for about 6 months. No problems with quality. Changed it for f-one rocket wing v3 5.5 88lt and never looked back. F-one builds up speed and takes off much quicker. I am mainly riding in choppy sea.

I've had the JP Australia X-Foil since March 2021. It's not the X Winger, but build quality should be similar. I have several hundred sessions on the board and I love it. Early on I put two little pin-hole dings in it, but I just put a dab of epoxy sealant over them. No quality issues at all. the deck pad is still fully attached and looks brand new.
I just returned from 8 days in Aruba and tried out a variety of other gear, including boards, to help me decide on my net purchase. I realized that my board is still working great, so decided to upgrade my hand wings instead.

I've got a 5'0" 95L which seems a common size on this thread. I'm 85kgs. It's a great board, I currently own an Armstrong fg board and haven't used it since buying the JP. Embarrassingly owned 5 boards this year and the x winger pro is the favourite. Build feels solid, is light enough and is compact in size for a big volume. Can still taxi in light winds with a 5' board. I'm in aus so they're easy to acquire here. If a 4'8" 85L was available second hand I'd probably upgrade to it. Has a screw for venting which adds to board longevity if that's important also. Track length is important as I use Armstrong foils and with the 16" boxes there is no issues with any I own. Won't be changing any time soon. Highly recommended.

I was thinking of getting a x-winger for Armstrong foil, the fact your are not using the Armstrong fg surprise me. I though while watching them the armstrong fg were more refined
I currently own a lemon and i hate it more and more, weird tail rocker incompatible with army foil, sacrificial gel coat chipping in almost every sesh, small sweetspot which prevent you to move army foil on the usbox, not a fast lifter.
Tried the afs fire it's very good, tomo shape = quick lift off, huge sweetspot.

Hey,

Funnily enough I bought a 4'8" 85 litres xwinger pro a couple of months ago 2nd hand at a shop and can't help feeling I might have bitten off more than I can chew.. I'm 95 kg and would like some better low-end.... Maybe we should do a swap if both boards are in similar condition? mine has minor marks/ scuffs but overall in really good shape...

Have a think about it, I'm located in Lake Coogee, near Woodies point.... happy to post/ mail pics .. let me know
