Maybe you guys know already about this, but I have spotted on Alan Cadiz's Youtube channel what I think to be Duotone next gen wing prototypes. I have seen him in the past riding early versions of the Echo with non branded sails, so I assume he is a test pilot for them.
Next gen appears to be a hybrid between Unit and Echo with a rather squarish outline.

Here's the video -- Alan Cadiz is really moving fast with this wing! About one minute in he makes everyone else look like they're moving backwards. Saw him in Maui in 1989 and he did the same thing on a sailboard -- make everyone else look like they were sailing backwards.

Strut and a boom.
Wonder what the benefit is of having both inflatable centre strut with boom is ?
I think having both a strut and boom makes the wing easier to handle when you don't have your hands on it (doesn't flip around nearly as much on its own). Also, I found my Echo sometimes would sink at the tail (if pushed back) when I was getting on the board -- my Wasps don't do that. The fix is to cut a pool noodle and fit a small section over the rear of the boom to float the back of the wing on top of the water. A strut solves that issue.
Another excellent innovation.Combo Echo Unit.
Front part inside canopy connection similar to Cabrinha & Fone.No handles. One on front of leading edge.Could be another Ken Winner.
I suspect by the time we get to version 3, we will have race wings, free style wings, surf wings, jumping wings, acrobatic wings.....
Yep spot on BT.
Winging innovation, designated classes & Styles of wings.Amazing progression when lots of poo pooing was happening at the beginning.

Yeah plus one what Dejavu said
Found this on a German site looks like the release product in two colors available in 0.5m increments from 2.5 to 7m with Carbon boom option.

Expected in spring 2021: The new wing from Duotone, which bridges the gap between the many Boom-Less models and the Echo. The Slick has an inflatable middle strut, but is stabilized by a short boom, which is available in aluminum and carbon. The boom is not included in the scope of delivery and must be ordered separately. The size range is incredible: The Foilwing comes in 0.5 m2 increments between 2.5 m2 and 7.0 m2. More information will follow ... So that means March April for us in Aus.
It will be interesting to see how Duotone handles different size booms for different sized wings -- one boom size for several wing sizes and another boom for another set of sizes?
The boom would certainly be easier to handle in tricks/transitions but let's not forget that it's a lot harder physically on the hand to have a full hand grip the boom vs a couple of finger tips on handles.
any idea of what's the use area of this design, ie. would the Unit still be better for wave riding being lighter etc?
I see they still use a 10 year old for graphic design.
Blue reinforcements right through the middle of the name. ![]()

Proud of the dumb name and hiding the wing size label again.
I wonder if someone has got in trouble as they have been removed from that German site. Can't find them anymore.

Probably. Some retailers get the promo material from the manufacturer early so they will know what's coming and are told NOT to make the info common knowledge until a certain date -- perhaps to keep the competition in the dark for as long as possible about the final product. Obviously there are wing foiling videos out there showing these wings since they are being developed and tested in the real world -- the Slingshot Dart, Duotone Slick, new F-One, new Wasp, etc.
The upside of this policy is that you can make last minute changes and save a potentially doomed product. The downside is that some consumers who would have purchased your product if they had known what was coming may have bought something else by the time you're ready to release information.

Gong already do. They have 5 models!!!!!!!!!! The new Duotone Slick looks similar in outline shape to the Gong Droid, which Gong list as a freeride machine. Clever marketing from Gong. I'm all for consumer choice, and it'll mean we can choose the model best suited for the conditions we ride in. If other brands go this way (and it looks like Duotone is if this is their 3rd model) having to stock this many models will be a living nightmare for the retailers. Gong can get away with it as they are direct sales - clever business model!
Personally I like the principle of the Slick, assuming it combines the best parts of the Echo and the Unit of course! The only thing I don't like about the Echo is what Dejavu said in his post - sinking at the tail when getting on a small board, especially in waves, doesn't make life easy! I haven't tried the noodle idea yet - thanks, I'll give it a go.

NB: a blatant Gong promo NOT posted by Colas - whaaaaaat ??
Hopefully Duotone will also work on fixing the back wind issue on their wings and have a larger stiff front handle (looks like the same one on the slick pics
)...
Any more news on the new wing? Just got a 3.3m Unit and love it, doesn't back wind at much as my 5m Unit and really stable, powerful and so light. I'll probably swap my 5m and 3.3m Units for a 4.5m and 3.0m Slick when they come out.
Relapse, how do you find the overlap between the 3.3m and 5m Units, please? I am contemplating between the 3,3m and 4m as I have the 5 like you?
Thanks!

Really good option for a 2 wing quiver. I can easily handle the 5.0 into 3.3 wind range. Only used it once so far but the 3.3m got me going in 15-17 knot gusts no problem. Was really surprised how good it pumps. Lent it to a lady winger yesterday and see did her first ever toe to heel side gybes on it! Both tacks too! Needless to say she's in the market for one now. She's 65kg and had no problems in the 27 knot gusts.
I can't decide on weather to go 4.5/3.0 or 5.0/3.5 in the Slick though.![]()

Great info, thanks very much! Are you somehow not happy with Units and hence looking for Slick, or is it just newer is more preferred type of thing? :)

I'm finding the 5.0 Unit a bit big now I have gotten a lot better at pumping up on foil so dropping down to 4.5m now they have gone to 0.5m increments. I actually prefer the feel of the boom for pumping, transitions and flat water but the weight and instability when feathered compared to handles put me off to date but shouldn't be an issue with the Slicks hybrid design, will be getting the carbon handle too
. I doubt we'll see them hit the shelves until June anyway with all the shipping issue at the moment which is a lifetime at the rate this sport is evolving.
