Hi George it was nice to meet you and have a chat about this wing-foiling thing.
Next time you are welcome to try my board for stability because even with you being slightly heavier than me you'd be surprised how stable and floaty my big 125 ltr board is and that will give you some idea as to what to look for for yourself.

I've started on a 105 Wing Drifter by Quatro. Am I starting too small? I find it really unstable during the learning phase.

80kg - I thought the 25 extra litres would be fine, but perhaps its the board size/shape
Hi Sputnik, I'd say that's too small to start with. I think having a board you can easily stand on makes learning so much easier, a bit more length really helps in the rough old Bay. I'm sure you will be fine on the Quattro in the end, maybe if you can afford it find a cheap bigger board for now, it's really easy to sell wing ding gear right now. I'm 65kg and started with a 6'6 x 30" 116L and it didn't ever feel too big when I was learning to get up on the foil. Not sure how long the Quattro is but too short in the beginning makes it much harder IMO - because you have to deal with fore and aft pitching as well as side to side instability.
Remember reading that Jacko in Qld has a big stable board that he loans to beginners before they buy their final board, great idea!

Thanks, good advice. I'll have a look at the 2nd hand market for bigger boards.
Yesterday at Hampton beach (Melbourne).
