Yep, waiting on GoFoil to announce their "new" range of mast and foils, supposed to be available for the northern hemisphere spring/summer so hopefully some info will be released soon
cameron I think we are about the only people still on GF outside Hawaii, (Ive been contemplating a shift to AFS or Slingshot....) the PNL185 with the 12.5FTL is my fav setup so far, still riding old gear

Yes the AFS look good with rave reviews. But then it's the same ol rabbit hole of choice...
front wings, tails, Stab lengths, shimming etc
I have enough variations of these in my GoFoil quiver to keep me learning and amused for the immediate future. And I just got a Parawing yesterday to add to the variables.

Haha, I'm still on Gofoil in Sydney. Expensive business to change teams and the bottom line for us mere mortals is that the gear isn't holding us back

Ain't it the truth![]()
I still have two complete GF setups (three RS series sizes). Every time I run them I'm always impressed. So easy to ride and so bomb proof. Haven't been able to even get $500 for a complete setup so I'm considering loaning them out to local guys for learning If I can get someone else to chip in their big board.
AFS is lot simpler than GoFoil - Silk for solid waves Enduro for everything else. No comparison on ride quality, finish and fit.
I am also still on GoFoil. Not sure what I am missing by still being on them. I don't have a chance to demo any other gear. My go to is the rs1150 it works great for the conditions we have, which is usually 10 to 20 knots, kind of gusty and weak waves. I can use smaller hand wings because the glide is great and it pops up on foil really quick. I have a rs975 and gt1400, both of which I don't use that much. I will bring out the rs975 when I have good consistent wind and bigger waves. It's nice and turny and fast and I can control it in big waves. When I say big waves I mean head high to a couple feet over head high.
I want to get into prone foiling more and only have a 92cm mast, so I am waiting for the new GoFoil masts and foils come out before I purchase a 75cm mast. Maybe I shouldn't wait and just switch to AFS? Is the extra cost really worth it. I am not pushing the boundaries of the sport or perfect Maui conditions. I wing on Lake Michigan which hardly ever has perfect conditions.

Still on GoFoil myself due to the fact it is so robust and simple to assemble. There's a lot prototyping going on right now including the use of high camber like KT. Hope they knock it out of the park with the new wings as (imo) the current quality and connection are top level. I haven't seen any AFS in person. Is the AFS as reef proof? As stiff?

Make sure you demo a 75cm. I prone an 80, and though I started foiling with a 75 and was fine with it, switching to 80 made for a much better experience prone, for both bank angles and for pumping.
I had issues with GoFoil connection with foils all a different fit. Some too tight some too loose so lots of time wasted fettling away to get a stiff connection. Lots of cracking at the mast fuse connection with one breakage at that point (warranty). Travel was a PITA with the mast/fuse monoblock. V2 mast needs to be way way back so only a narrow range of boards are compatible. The GoFoil foils if you choose the right one work well, there are lots of different ones out there.
AFS connection is rock solid, and the mast is very stiff. Not as reef proof as GoFoil but still solid with everything made from UHM carbon with M8 mounting hardware. I also like the use of slots on the plate so movement from one board to another is simple without extra washers GoFoil use. For me AFS Silk and Enduro foils are a major step up from GoFoil, but you pay for it. Heaps of great value S/H GoFoil setups in Oz atm, awesome start up kit.
Its very difficult not to hype a foil or diss it, I like the GF for what I currently use does right for me, I feel people of similar ability to me have progressed more on other gear (maybe I really suck?). What pained me was a while back the GL were really expensive, I got some cheaper NL and they literally have NO bottom end as far as my use of them goes, too much hard work in gusty conditions, (not to speak of the ridiculous tips of dark destruction!!) NOW the GL wings are almost being given away - I have a new mission this year to train every aspect to failure and see if I can finally improve, lol ![]()
I have sold two full gofoil kits to happy foilers and just bought some more to keep me going.
Biggest downside is travel. No drama if you own a yacht but if you fly cattle class not so good.
Was thinking of reshaping and finishing 140 and 180 gl, bit like custom building cafe racer!
I've been on gofoil since the rs range was launched and it's been solid for me sup waveriding, wing waveriding and downwinding however the demise of the brand throughout Australia since Dylan left has made updates and froth for the brand diminish. This season I have made it my mission to smash the sup foil downwinding and have gone hard to achieve that - initially on gofoil which got me up and going. I then had a ride on the AFS Enduro and within 2 runs aged my first downwinder - the change has let to me improving in every element of my riding.
Maybe I was using the wrong go foil gear for downwind sup, maybe not but sometimes change is needed. I stuck.it out with gofoil and still have my 975 rsx, 12.5 and v2 mast up for grabs if anyone is keen on some supercheap gear but I may well hold onto it as a wave setup for when I don't want to smash up the new AFS gear.
Regarding the travel issues this never bothered even travelling remote indo trips was easy as ultimately board is still the widest piece of equipment so mast/fuse never an issue. Also I will massively miss the simplicity of the 2 screw setup but agree with hilly that the wear issues with wings was super annoying causing some to be too loose and others not to fit.
I wish go foil well but in Australia I feel their time is now done

Sounds like gen 1.5 issues. Agree, though, once a brand goes sour for you, it's hard to recover. Especially when they haven't produced anything groundbreaking for 2 years now! Don't know how many times people see my V2 mast shoved to the back of the box and comment I should try it more forward like their (Code, Armstrong, Uni...) I just bought a closeout F-one midlength and forgot to check the box. It came with 10" boxes and center hole. Might be the nail in the coffin if I can't get it to work...
For those of you unfamiliar, Gofoil V2 is about 2" further back on the fuse and their foils are very front footed. Great if you are used to old school foils. And I feel the rearward mast gives something to pivot off of for non foiling top turns. But pretty much unusable on a lot of short prone boards as your back foot will be infront of the mast and your paddle will have your pop up hands on the nose of the board...
