Howdy,
Booked a family trip to Fuerte for this August. After the past month of winter wettie, storms, cold hands and a bagged out 3m wing, it sounds dreamy. Quick forum search shows folks have been there but no specific thread.
Any advice on conditions, where to stay, rental versus bringing gear, launch points, etc much appreciated.
Thanks
Where did you book to stay?
I have been travelling to the North of the island for many years to windsurf, SUP surf in the winter and now winging is very popular at the trad windsurfing locations. The best wind is in the summer but winging is a great way to make the most of lighter winter winds and good swell. Corralejo in the North is a great location for beginner to intermediates and has plenty for advanced riders in the area.
Last February the area around the slip at Ventura Surf in town was very busy with wings and foil boards carpeting the beach.
Flag Beach just down the coast is very popular with kitesurfers and windsurfers but also good for intermediate and advanced winging.
On the North coast Majanicho has great waves (can get busy on the break) and a fairly sheltered bay but lots of rocks.
If you look up Gunnar Biniasch on YouTube you can see lots of footage from Fuerte, he is a local on the North Shore and a competes regularly around the world.
There are a few hire places, one of the biggest is Line UP who do FOne kit, Ventura Surf do hire and lessons. Many others also. I have always taken my own kit from the UK as its cheaper to fly it than rent it.
Further south there are many places that are good for winging but the big beginners lagoon at Rene Egli just north of Sotavento while great for kites and windsurfers is not really deep enough for foils and the usual winds are offshore.
Some amazing beaches on the west coast, Cotillo is very popular with surfers and kites but can be great for winging in the swell if you can deal with the shore break.
Because it's a volcanic island some of the breaks have a lot of rocks but it's OK if your sensible.
It's a pretty laid back island with lots of good places to eat and chill out and some world class waves when the conditions are on.
foilsurfing.club on Insta had some good big wave tow in foil action at Bristol in my feed the other day, was watching them last Feb doing this and it looks great. There are also some good SUP foil spots if you can dodge the crowds of surf schools that plague the easier breaks.

Thanks, great stuff, appreciate the info. I haven't booked accommodation just yet but looking at Corralejo.
I've had a couple of winter hols in Corralejo with wing kit. Great town, nice vibe/food/music, my wife likes a walk round shops etc.
wing wing fuerteventura is a great guy for hire.
Go down at low tide to check out the reefs, no issue once you know where they are.
was getting busy last time I was there in March. Great surf if no wind but need a hire car to get to spots. Heading back again in March. enjoy.
