Hi guys,
i need some advice for my wingfoil gear. I have 75 kg and started last year on a wing craft 90 liter board with a Slingshot Hoverglide and th? Infinity 76 and 84 wings to do my first jibes.
This year i have switched to a 92 Carbon Mast with th? Slingshot e990 lower. I am sailing mostly in flat water in about 10-15 kts of wind.
With the new gear i am struggling to sail th? foiling jibes, hard to turn for me..
should i keep practicing or Switch to some pfi 730 oor g900 wing?
thanks a lot
Juergen
Don't have experience with the Slingshot front wings, but the infinity's look comparable to Moses / Sabfoil w790 and w873. I had the 873 and it turned pretty easily and short for a wing of that size. It pivots and turns pretty short.
Your newer foil has a wider wingspan, that could make the turning a bit harder and the turns longer. That can make you feel like you loose your balance (your body does the same, but the foil behaves differently).
I think it requires a bit of getting use too. I had the same switching from w873 to w1250. The take-off and turning was pretty different. Made me feel I was taking steps back instead of progressing at first. After a couple of sessions I got it dialled in.
The lenght of your mast shouldn't really influence the turnability, but being higher out of the water can make it a bit more scary. Maybe the mast is stiffer. That would result in more direct effect of your input and/or the foils behaviour.
Generally Slingshot wings are easy to ride and the E990 is one of the easiest.
If anything it's too big and slow, not enough glide at your weight.
