Two questions;
1) assuming 80kg, would you prefer going out with around 40liter board instead of 80liter or 80+ board when there's lots of chop/waves? Some write that the smaller board will be steadier and easier to knee on, than the bigger board (liters matching the rider weight) which floats like a cork on the water and hence gets rocked back and forth along the chop?
2) what would be sort of ideal liter size for this, and without loosing "too" much of lowend, ie. happy compromise? Any thoughts on board measurements, ie. length and width for being sinker board?
Thanks very much!
If you have over 18knots I go the 40L sinker board. Much more stable once you learn the sinker start. Less than that I find it super hard to get up and going. But I'm sure there's guys on here that can get up in less wind than that.
I am still trying to figure that out, too. I have 40l, 60l and 75l and weigh around 80kg, too. I only tried the 40l once. Because I can't put v-configuration straps on it and because I needed a lot more pumping energy to get going. I tried the 60l I think 3 times now and love it with a little bit of wind. It sits a little deeper and feels much less corky in rough conditions. I still use the 75l mostly so far because it is more comfortable to keep going (non foiling) in lulls than with the 60l. Curious what I will prefer for what in half a year ;-)
