How is the sizing? I heard they run bigger now.

Yeah, i can see why people get that feeling. Its got a very stiff and direct pull to it, pulls like a train down low.

If I had the luxury of 3 wings id add a 3.5m probably.

How do you feel it compares to previous versions? I have only ridden the v4 and v5 briefly, made most of my hours on a v3. Always had a single 5m wing, picking up my 4.5 v6 tomorrow (too stoked!!) as I too felt since the v4 already they feel a lot more powerful for their size.

The V5 and V6 definitely share the same design philosophy. They pull forward so are very efficient size for size in comparison to the V4. They are different in transitions to the previous generation, you need to steer them with your back hand, it will fly the direction you point it.

4.5 is a good shout if you're normally on a 5m

Enjoy it..

Soft handles as a default surprises me, does anyone prefer these? First thing I did with my V4 was throw the handles in the bin and put a boom on.

They get sold without any handles, you choose your handles seperately. I think most people ride a boom on the Strikes.

Fone makes a great wing, just too bad their hard handles and boom are so much heavier than others, especially given how short they are, surprised that wasn't addressed.

Honestly I havent held any handle options of other brands, but the F-One options dont feel heavy at all. The hard handles are glass fiber but still feel light. The boom is carbon fiber and definately lighter than a set of handles.

The wings are also lighter than most. My new Strike QuadX is the lightest wing I've ever held ;).

In the end I dont think the 100g difference compared to for example a duotone boom will make the difference on the water anyway.

I shot a video about my first impressions on the Strike QuadX! Find it here:

The short version:
Strike we all know, but better. Very constant pull due to the stiff airframe, high torque out of turns, improved low-end (can ride this one about 1m smaller than my V3, is also a noticable gain compared to last years model), and sick hangtime.

If the bottom end is much better, how's the top end?

Top-end is fine. I used the wing in 10-15 knots and 25-40 knots and in both it was perfectly usable. Although its very stiff and gusts come in hard I find it more comfortable in the top-end than my old V3 Strike.

Hopefully the Swing is inbound.

Swing is unchanged for this year, as is the Origin (which hasnt changed since the first release except for handle placement to accomodate the boom). There are new coloyrways though.
