Hi! Had my first experience wing foiling today.
Axis png 1150 82m mast 460 stab short fuselage
Jp x winger 95 L with straps
North nova2 6 kvm
weight 75 kg
Been windsurfing and kiting for many years.
After a few failed attempts I managed to get on foil and got som riding time ( left foot forward). I'm regular in surfing so this felt ok.
I had about 70% of my weight on front foot to keep the foil In flight, is this how its supposed to be? Or should I move the foil a little backwards in the box?Going back was a struggle didn't manage to get on foil, felt so awkward with my right foot forward.
When you started out did you ride switch stance to get back?
Will give it a new try tomorrow
Thanks
I switch stance, been windsurfing for decades so this comes natural.
I felt more front foot pressure when I started (72kg, 95l board) but that disappeared after few sessions and moving mast just a little backward. Moving mast backward should help. Time on water will also help. Usually it is good to start with mast in the middle and move it just a bit, after a few sessions.
Enjoy :)
Lots of youtube lessons but nothing beats a lesson from an instructor. It will open the sport up to you and make things go a lot better. My advice is practice both tacs strong side and weak side to round yourself out. Your experience in kiting and windsurfing will pay off and advance your progression but you really should try and take a lesson as the sport is a lot more fun once you start nailing jybes and stop crashing after every turn.

Winging isn't kiteboarding so YouTube is fine for learning. It's by far the easiest of the windfoiling sports. The Damien Leroy channel suggestion is perfect.
I think it helps to learn switch stance and switch water starts right from the beginning. YouTube tutorials are great but nothing beats time in the water. By all means watch the YT but to apply it you have to learn the muscle memory. Adjust your mast position so your weight is balanced. Perseverance wins.
oskarhhh - did you have an additional session? How was it?
Just go for a foiling jibe when you are foiling and do a non-foiling one when you are of the foil, after enough TOW you will master that ;)
Hi! Removed my back footstrap and that changed everything, I can now have a more centered weight over the middle of the board (sideways)so much more control and riding both ways no longer a problem. I did move the mast back a little and that helped to.
