Hi
I want to get advises of where to put the mast in the tracks to maintain the flight on jiving more time. Does a more advanced foil enlegnth the flight? Also if the rake of the whole foil has any influence in the flight while jiving.

Any other tuning to take into account?

If you are flying over and back but struggling to gybe its not a foil issue but a you issue. Continuing to practice is your best bet, simple as that - loads of gybe tips on youtube and elsewhere at this stage. Keep at it, it'll happen.

You can definitely lose some glide time with a bad mast placement if your mast is too far back.
It's easier to counterbalance a lack of lift in straight-line with your body position, but when you're gybing, you'll have plenty of other things to think about and you will automatically find yourself in a more neutral position which won't counterbalance the lack of lift as well. As a result, the foil drops more quickly.

The angle of the mast/board connection can also affect glide in the same way, but first you should simply move the mast forward and see if the result suits you.

A more efficient foil helps in that you have more time to complete the jibe, but they are also often less stable(aka more fun).

I learned to jibe on a very low aspect beginner foil and when I switched to a more modern mid aspect my jibes did get better quickly as I could glide through smoothly instead of forcing it around quickly and having to stay powered the whole time. That said, I could absolutely learn to jibe on the beginner foil and on any foil it was going to take a lot of practice and a lot of falling.

Thanks. This is what I was doubting about. I will try.

The most important thing is that the foil does not feel back-footed i.e. should not need constant pressure from the back foot to maintain level flight.

Hi Sideshore. I've been struggling with nailing down all my gybes (3rd season) If I could get 3 in a row on my normal HA foil I was stoked. I demoed a different MA foil & in the first session was unlucky if I blew a gybe. The 2nd session I was on foil for blocks of about 10 minutes & no problems with gybes or foot swaps.
The difference was all in the glide of the predictable & efficient MA foil. It is the foil I should have got straight away after moving from the beginner foil. Don't rush too fast like I did to get an "advanced" foil, as the middle of the road intermediate foils will speed up your progress

Some early HA foils were hard to use.

This recently released video by Gwen "The Tutor" has simple tips and drills to get those gybes nailed
Its simple and easy to implement by getting you to focus on one thing at a time.

I've already used the drills when switching between my DW and ML boards and also when switching from MA to HA wings.

im now going to use the drills to get my switch stance gybes executed
